One killed, one injured in head-on collision

PAX — A pregnant woman was killed Wednesday night in a vehicle accident, and a second motorist was seriously injured in the same crash, according to initial reports from Fayette County Emergency Operations dispatchers.

The woman, who was not identified, was involved in a head-on collision around 8:43 p.m. with another car on Paint Creek Road in Pax, at the “line” of Raleigh and Fayette counties, according to officials.

Emergency officials were preparing a second motorist for transport via HealthNet helicopter to Charleston Area Medical Center around 9:30 p.m.

Pax Fire Department, Jan-Care Ambulance and West Virginia State Police also responded to the accident.

No further information was available Wednesday night.
