BECKLEY — The West Virginia State Police Beckley Detachment is searching for a missing sex offender whose last address was Burgess Street in Beckley.

Cpl. R. A. Daniel confirmed that Harry Robert James Whittamore, 43, of Beckley, is a wanted subject.

Whittamore goes by aliases Bobby, Robert, or Timmy Fisher.

He is a white male, six feet tall, 210 pounds, has brown eyes, faint freckles and is bald.

The state police said Whittamore last registered with his parole officer on Aug. 16 but has allegedly not lived at his last known residence since Aug. 22.

Police said Whittamore was convicted of 2nd degree criminal sexual conduct of an 11 year-old female in 1996.

The suspect has since been arrested several times for failure to register, the most recent was May 2011, said police.

Daniel said the May 2011 arrest involved Whittamore moving to an unknown location. Once located, he fled and was found to be in possession of illegal drugs.

Anyone who knows the whereabouts of Whittamore is urged to contact Cpl. Daniel at 304-256-6700 or Crime Stoppers, 304-255-7867.
