Police: Fayette woman arrested

A Fayette County woman was arrested Thursday in connection with a hit and run incident in the Oak Hill area Tuesday evening, according to Fayette County Sheriff’s Department.

Ruth Ann Owens, also known as Ruth Ann Fleshman, was arrested in Minden by Deputies A.E. Roberts and S.K. Neal. Officers began investigating the hit and run Tuesday around 11:30 p.m. The victim was identified as Larry Gill, who was transported to Charleston Area Medical Center.

Gill was initially listed in “critical but stable” condition. Owens was identified as the female companion of Gill. She fled the scene Tuesday night in a blue Dodge truck belonging to Gill, which was later located in Minden.

Owens was charged with unlawful taking of a vehicle, driving with a suspended operator’s license and leaving the scene of an accident with personal injury.

Owens was arraigned in Fayette County Magistrate Court and released on a $5,000 bond.

The incident remains under investigation by Deputy Roberts.
