Search for escapees ongoing

The search is still on for two inmates who went missing from the Mount Olive Correctional Facility Sunday night.

William Okey Cline, 25, and Kenneth Ray Hager, 30, were discovered missing from the minimum security camp during an even head count.

“These guys seem to be laying pretty low right now,” Jim Rubenstein, commissioner for the Division of Corrections, said Thursday. “Wherever they are, they are certainly trying to remain inconspicuous.”

Rubenstein said the Division of Corrections is working closely with the U.S. Marshals Service and West Virginia State Police to follow up on leads.

“Our efforts are being concentrated more in the home counties with other law enforcement,” he said, “but we haven’t had much to go on the past few days.”

Cline, who was sentenced for daytime burglary in Wyoming County, is described as a 6-foot-1-inch tall white male with brown hair and eyes. He weighs 195 pounds, and may be identified by a Tazmanian devil tattoo on his left forearm or his “Wyoming County Outlaw” tattoo on his torso.

Hager is a 170 pound white male, who is 6-foot-1-inch tall with brown hair and brown eyes. He may be identified by numerous skull tattoos on his forearms and/or tattoos of a brick wall on his legs and left hand fingers, with a mermaid tattoo on his back.

He was serving time for burglary, grand larceny and breaking and entering in Boone County.

Rubenstein says both inmates are described as low-risk and non-violent.

Anyone with information regarding their whereabouts is asked to call State Police or Mount Olive.
