A 50-year-old Fayette County woman was killed Saturday night as the result of a single-vehicle accident on U.S. 60 in Hico, Fayette County Sheriff Bill Laird said.
Kristal L. Taylor, of Victor, was a passenger in a vehicle driven by Daniel Paura, 47, of Oak Hill.
Laird said the accident occurred near Meadow Bridge High School at about 9:30 p.m. when Paura, who was traveling westbound, apparently lost control of his vehicle, crossing the center line and eventually running off the left side of the road. The vehicle flipped over several times, coming to a rest on its top.
Both Taylor and Paura were trapped in the vehicle and were extricated by members of the Nutall and Ansted fire departments.
Taylor was pronounced dead at the scene and Paura was transported, via HealthNet, to Charleston Area Medical Center.
Paura was being treated in the ICU and was listed as “under evaluation” Sunday night.
Neither Taylor nor Paura were believed to have been wearing seatbelts, Laird said.
The accident is under investigation by Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputy S.L. Campbell.
