Holiday festivities continue tonight at BMP

BECKLEY — It’s still Independence Day at Beckley Motorsports Park.

The 3/8th-mile dirt track in Prosperity will feature holiday festivities tonight to go with a full card of racing.

The track will hold a Kids Club Box Car race for children ages 8 and under. The homemade box cars are foot-powered, 29 inches wide by 19 inches high and must fit over the child’s body.

They can be decorated to look like the child’s favorite race car. The races will take place on the front straightaway, and will be divided into three age groups: 2-4, 5-6 and 7-8.

Following races in all six divisions (Late Models, AMRA Modifieds, Fastrak Crates, Outlaw Modifieds, Street Stocks and Hornets), a fireworks show will complete the evening.

Gates will open at 4 p.m., with racing to begin at 7 p.m. General admission is $12. Kids ages 6-10 will pay $6, while those 5 and under get in free. Pit passes are $25.
