Greenbrier honored as one of world’s top 25 golf resorts

From Staff Reports

— The Greenbrier Resort — home of The PGA Tour’s Greenbrier Classic — has been named one of the top 25 golf resorts in the world, according to a list compiled by LINKS magazine.

The list, which will be published in the Fall 2013 edition of the magazine, judged the resorts on location, golf, accommodations, dining and service.

In its description of The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, the magazine read, “This landmark resort, founded in 1778 and revived three years ago by native son Jim Justice, offers healing sulphur spring waters, exceptional dining, a subterranean casino and 54 holes of golf led by the Old White TPC Course, site of a PGA Tour event.”

“We at The Greenbrier are honored to be recognized by this leading industry publication for our unparalleled golf facilities,” said Jeff Nmiec, president of The Greenbrier. “We are tremendously proud of our longstanding golf traditions at the resort, which has seen the likes of Sam Snead, Ben Hogan, Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer and many more legends on its links. We continue that proud tradition today, counting Tom Watson, Kenny Perry, Webb Simpson and Bubba Watson among our Greenbrier golf ambassadors.”
