— The Shady Spring Tigers and Buffalo Wild Wings will team up today from 5 to 9 p.m. to raise funds for the Upper Deck Middle School baseball team. Fifteen percent of all pre-taxed food sales (less alcohol and promotional discounts) from any guest who presents a fundraising ticket will go to support the team.

n Marshall baseball at Epling Stadium

The final leg of Marshall’s 2013 Summer Baseball Series will be held Saturday, Oct. 12, at Linda K. Epling Stadium in Beckley. The event will start with a 9 a.m. registration period.

The series made four stops during the actual summer months before the finale in Beckley.

The showcase is open to pitchers and position players ages 14 to 18. Participants will be able to work out not only in front of Marshall coach Jeff Waggoner and his coaching staff, but also coaches from other colleges invited to attend.

A game will follow a pro-style workout.

The cost for the showcase is $100 per entry. Please make checks payable to Marshall University Athletics. To sign up, complete the registration form found at www.HerdZone.com, or register at the field the day of the clinic.

n Beckley Area Derby Dames

The Beckley Area Derby Dames will hold a meeting Friday, Oct. 25, at the MacArthur Skating Rink for potential skaters, refs and volunteers interested in joining the team for the 2014 season. Another meeting will be held on Friday, Nov. 1. No previous roller derby experience is needed.



n Oak Hill Little League

There will be a meeting of Oak Hill Little League on Tuesday, Oct. 15, at 6:30 p.m. at the Scout Cabin in Oak Hill. The purpose of the meeting is to elect board members for next season. The public is invited to attend.

n WVCW Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame

The West Virginia Championship Wrestling Hall of Fame will induct three new members during a ceremony Saturday, Oct. 12, at the Rec Center in Princeton.

The inductees will be Gypsy Joe, also known as Gene Madrid of WOAY’s Saturday Night Wrestling fame; Monroe County native Mark Canterbury, who wrestled as Henry O. Godwin in WWE and as the masked Shanghai Pearce, one half of the tag team Texas Hangmen; and the legendary “Boogie Woogie Man” Jimmy Valiant, a WWE Hall of Famer with his brother, Luscious Johnny Valiant.

WVCW wrestling airs every Wednesday at noon on The CW Two Virginias.
