BBQ to benefit The Yard training facility

Event to be held Sunday at Marquee Cinemas

BECKLEY — An outdoor barbecue to benefit baseball. Now that’s American.

The Yard, an indoor hitting facility in Glen Morgan for players in the Shady Spring school district, will host a barbecue fundraiser Sunday at the parking lot of Marquee Cinemas. The event will last from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Barbecues made of brisket and pulled pork with all the side will be available, according to Darrell Frasier with The Yard. There is no exact charge, but donations will be gladly accepted. All proceeds go toward equipment and upkeep of The Yard.

Created in the winter, The Yard provides baseball and softball players in the Shady Spring school district the opportunity for year-round work. The facility is particularly targeted at those who play in the Upper Deck Middle School Baseball League.
