From Staff Reports
The Beckley Area Derby Dames are back again, ready for their first home bout of the season against the NRV Bruisin’ Burgs Sunday at the Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center.
Doors open at 2 p.m. and the whistle blows at 3 p.m. for the “Doggone Demolition,” which will benefit Operation Underdog, an animal advocacy group in southern West Virginia dedicated to the rescue of unwanted animals in the area.
Operation Underdog also strives to educate the public on the severity of overpopulation and what they can do to help stop it.
“BADD has proven themselves not only on the track, but that we care about the community,” KaPOWndcake said. “We give a portion of our proceeds to charities not only at bouts, but at our fundraisers as well. When people come watch BADD play, they’re not just keeping the dream alive for a team to keep going and keep winning; they’re also keeping the dream alive for local charities and nonprofits to keep changing lives.”
Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the door. Kids ages 6 to 12 are $5 and children 5 and under get in free.
Cash only is accepted at the door, but an ATM is on site at the Convention Center.
Burn N Kell said this bout is family-friendly entertainment and BADD encourages kids to get out and be active.
“People should come out to see an amazing show!” said Cup O. Tea. “It’s a great display of how dedication and hard work pay off!”
