The YMCA of Southern West Virginia will host the conclusion of the Triathlon Sprint Series and a Kids Triathlon March 9.
“The whole family can come out and participate in our triathlon events,” said Health and Fitness Director Reginia Thomas. “Participants can run, bike and swim without major distances and celebrate their progress together.”
The Triathlon Sprint Series event is open to Y members and non-members at least 13 years of age and participants may register as individuals or teams. The Kids Triathlon is for ages 6 to 12.
The sprint series event consists of swimming 500 meters, biking 18 miles and running 4 miles. The kids event includes swimming two laps in the shallow end of the pool (floatation devices are permitted), biking 1 mile and running 1 mile.
Individuals and teams should register by March 1. Printable forms for both events are available on the Y’s website, www.ymcaswv.com, and at the Y Welcome Center.
The sprint series individual entry fee is $20 for Y members and $45 for non-members; $40 for Y member teams and $70 for non-member teams; kids event registration is $5.
The Y will open to participants at 6:45 a.m. with the Triathlon Sprint Series event starting at 7:30 a.m. Sign-in for the Kids Triathlon will be at 9:45 a.m.
T-shirts will be given to participants while supplies last.
