CHILLICOTHE, Ohio —
The West Virginia Miners exploded for six runs in the first two innings and went on to pound Chillicothe 11-2 Sunday to split the two-game series with the Paints.
The Miners pounded out 10 hits, led by Mike Brosseau’s four hits, including a double, and three RBIs.
Zach Woolcock drove in two runs, while Ryan Perkins, Paul Trenhaile and Taylor Kellner each had one RBI in the win.
Chase Boster (4-2) pitched seven complete innings, allowing just two runs on six hits to pick up his fourth win of the season. Quinton Yocom and Kyle Stanley each pitched one inning of shutout relief to preserve the win.
The win moves West Virginia back into a first-place tie with Chillicothe and Butler in the Eastern Division standings.
West Virginia opens a crucial two-game series tonight with Butler at Linda K. Epling Stadium. First pitch is at 7:05.
It will be FCA Monday, with $1 for every ticket purchased donated to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Chick-fil-A will be a sponsor.
