Miners blank Chillicothe 2-0

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Kenny May had three hits including a two-out bases loaded single in the top of the ninth inning driving in two runs to lead the West Virginia Miners past Chillicothe 2-0 Thursday on the road.

The win gives the Miners a split of the two-game series and moves the Miners back into first place in the Eastern Division, one game ahead of the Paints.

The Miners struggled yet again from the dish against the Paints pitching staff recording just five hits and no extra base hits. However, the Miners pitching staff was up to the challenge and yielding no runs in the win.

Quinton Yocum pitched seven strong innings to set the tone striking out 10 Paints batters and scattering six hits before yielding to winning pitcher Sam Hunter. James Wood picked up the save recording the last two outs of the contest.

The Miners return home tonight to Linda K. Epling Stadium tonight in the first game of a two game series with the Slippery Rock Sliders.

Tonight’s game is Dickey’s BBQ night and first pitch is at 7:05 p.m.
