It doesn’t get more American than baseball, barbecue and fireworks.
More than a week after the nation celebrated its birthday, the West Virginia Miners will have a slightly delayed celebration of its own this weekend when they host the Slippery Rock Sliders in a two-game series.
A host of promotions are scheduled for the games, both of which begin at 7:05 p.m. The biggest day, without question, will be Saturday.
The Miners’ traditional Independence Day fireworks extravaganza was canceled July 3 because of rain. It has been rescheduled for Saturday, a day that also has several promotions lined up.
It will be Dickey’s BBQ Night and WJLS Big Dawg Night. Plenty of giveaways are planned in conjunction with both. It will also be Military Night, with the Army National Guard giving away free T-shirts to all fans.
That’s not even the beginning.
Friday will be Buffalo Wild Wings Night. The restaurant will be unveiling its brand new mascot during the game.
It will also be Support Your Local Business Night. Bring a business card to the game and receive $1 off the purchase of one ticket.
The Miners held a one-game lead over the Chillicothe Paints going into Wednesday’s game at Chillicothe.
