Miners beat Richmond for 6th straight

From Staff Reports

RICHMOND, Ind. — The scoreless innings streak is over. The winning streak remains intact.

On a night both teams combined for 12 walks and four errors, the West Virginia Miners broke open a tie game in the ninth inning, scoring three runs to take a 5-4 win from the Richmond RiverRats.

The win extends the Miners’ win streak to six games and helps them maintain their five-game lead over second-place Butler in the Prospect League East Division standings. Their magic number to clinch was reduced to seven.

Pat Kregeloh and Kaeo Aliviado each had a double and an RBI to lead the Miners, while Douglas Votolato and Evan Potter both scored twice.

Brandon Koch pitched a scoreless eighth inning to get the win and Kolin Stanley picked up his fourth save.

Richmond scored a run in the sixth, ending West Virginia’s scoreless innings streak at 33.

The Miners look to sweep the RiverRats at 7:05 p.m. today before heading to Lorain County for a two-game series starting Thursday.
