Harlem Superstars coming to Liberty

From Staff Reports

BECKLEY — Showtime dunks, astonishing passing and exciting tricks are in store when the Harlem Superstars exhibition basketball team appears at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 3, at Liberty High School.

The Superstars, talented players whose mission is to entertain children and their families, will play the Liberty Dream Team, which is made up of student athletes and surprise adult players.

Kevin “Showboat” Jackson, a 12-year veteran, will lead the Superstars into action. A basketball comedian, he’s known for his amazing no-look shot, huge smile and love for the game.

Donnie “Razzmatazz” Seale, Chuck “Skyscraper” Henson, Cliff “Will Fly” Malone, Bobby “The Legend” Moore and Rob “Jumpin’ Jack” Coggins round out the Superstars roster.

The Superstars will create magic as they go through their series of antics and comedy routines. Direct audience participation is an important part of the show, and at halftime, 20 to 30 children will be brought down from the stands to test their basketball skills with the superstars.

Earlier in the day, the Superstars will provide motivational speaking and performances at two of Liberty’s feeder schools and will make a special appearance at the high school. Educational messages will be presented to the students, such as staying in school, peer pressure, bullying, character building and drug and alcohol awareness.
