BECKLEY — n Hole-in-one

Boyd Wilburn aced the par-3, 120-yard No. 17 hole at Bridge Haven Country Club in Fayetteville on Friday. He used a sand wedge.

Witnesses were Kenny Smith, Richard Weese and Rodney Weese.



n Eye of the Tiger basketball camps

  Coach Dave Barksdale and Coach Dan Burd will hold the following basketball camps this summer: July 8-12 for third, fourth and fifth graders; July 15-19 for sixth and seventh graders and July 22-26 for first, second and third graders.

All camps are for boys and girls and will run from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m., except the July 22-26 camp, which is from 9 a.m. until noon.

The camps will be held in the gymnasium at Memorial Baptist Church, located at 1405 South Kanawha Street in Beckley.

n Coach Olson Basketball Camp

The 6th annual Coach Olson Basketball Camp will be held June 10-14 at Shady Spring Middle School. The camp is for boys and girls grades 3-6. For more information or pre-registration please contact coach Olson at 304-557-9526.



n Kevin Jones Basketball Camp

  Mountain Top Promotions presents the 2nd annual Kevin Jones KJ5 Basketball Camp in Beckley June 7-9. The cost of the camp is $150 if paid before the week of the camp, $175 if paid the week of the camp and $200 if paid the day of the camp. Campers will receive a camp T-shirt, camp jersey, KJ headband, plus other giveaways. The campers will participate in drills, games and other activities along side Kevin Jones and his special guests. Last year’s staff included Da’Sean Butler, Truck Bryant, Jabarie Hinds, Aaron Brown and Gary Brown. n Park cross country meeting

  Park Middle School cross country will have an interest meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the YMCA Paul Cline Sports Complex. The meeting is by the Gazebo, near the 2nd parking lot on the left. Students who would like to participate next season should plan to attend.  Cross country is open to all Park students, and the team does not make cuts.  Anyone with questions, or who is unable to attent, should contact coach Trent and coach Barbera at beckleycoach@yahoo.com.



n Beckley Youth League Football Camp

   The city of Beckley will sponsor the Beckley Youth League Football Camp Saturday June 8 at Woodrow Wilson High School. The camp will start at 9 a.m. and is open to all football players in grades 1-6. The camp will be under the direction of Woodrow Wilson head coach John H. Lilly, The Woodrow Wilson football staff, current college players and former stand out players. Participants should wear cleats and proper clothing. The cost of the camp is $25. n Charlie Jarrell Memorial Golf

Tournament

The annual Charlie Jarrell Memorial Golf Tournament will be held Sunday June 2 at Briar Patch Golf Links. Registration for the four-person captain’s choice event is at 1 p.m. and tee-off is at 2 p.m.  The cost is $240 per team or $60 per person. n City of Beckley Womens Summer League Basketball

The City of Beckley Womens Summer League Basketball will begin play on June 10. To register a team and for more information, please contact Steve Kidd at 304-763-1428. Registration deadline is May 30. There will be three divisions, middle school, high school and an open division. All games will be played at Park Middle School.



n Woodrow Wilson girls soccer

The Woodrow Wilson High School girls soccer team will hold a player and parent meeting at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, at the YMCA Youth Sports Complex pavilion.

All players interested in playing soccer this fall should attend with a parent. Summer soccer drills will begin the week of Monday, June 10, from 6-7:45 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and run through the week of June 24.

n Babe Ruth tryouts rescheduled

Beckley Babe Ruth final signups, tryouts and draft of teams will be held Tuesday at the Babe Ruth field across from King Tut Drive-In.

Signups for players between the ages of 13 and 15 who have not previously signed up will begin at 5:30 p.m., with tryouts for all players, including those who have previously signed up, starting at approximately 6 p.m. New players registering will need to bring their birth certificates and need to be accompanied by a parent.

There is a $50 participation fee, but no player will be turned away due to finances.

Anyone interested in coaching should arrive at the field at 5:30 p.m.

n Liberty Softball League

A summer softball league will be held, beginning June 10, at Liberty High School.

Age groups are 18-under, 14-under and 12-under.

n 2013 AND1 Streetball Tour

Advanced tickets for the 2013 AND1 Streetball Tour are on sale now at the YMCA of Southern West Virginia. The game is being held in conjunction with the YMCA of Southern West Virginia and Little General stores. Advanced tickets for the June 2 event at Woodrow Wilson High School are $10. n Hole-In-One

Stephen Davis of Beckley hit a hole-in-one at Bridge Haven Golf Course on May 10.

Davis used a nine iron on the 129-yard, par 3, No. 10 hole. The shot was witnessed by Fred Brunty and Pete Short.
