Thumbs up ... to resolutions in the Senate to honor the lives of three West Virginians: Robert Holliday, lawmaker, newspaper editor, television producer and author; Pearl Harbor victim Eugene Mitchell Skaggs; and Craig Dorsey II, killed in the Ghent convenience store propane explosion.
Thumbs up ... to the band benefit held by The Lost Parrot. The event raised $2,831 which was donated to the American Red Cross to aid in relief efforts in Haiti.
Thumbs up ... to the expansion of land to be used for wildlife management in the New River Gorge. Nearly 1,600 acres on the rim will be added to the Beury Mountain Wildlife Management Area.
Thumbs up ... to everyone who helped the United Way of Southern West Virginia reach its 2009-2010 campaign goal of $350,000. The United Way of Southern West Virginia provides assistance to 29 agencies throughout Fayette, Raleigh, Summers, Nicholas and Wyoming counties.
