Joyce Carolyn Brown
Come celebrate Joyce Brown’s home going. Joyce was born Oct. 24th 1956, in Elyria, Ohio, and went home to be with Jesus on Feb. 25th 2013, in Kingsport, Tenn., after battling cancer for one and a half years.
Joyce was a paramedic for over 20 years and went on to get her bachelors in accounting. She was a minister of the Gospel-of Jesus Christ. She leaves behind her five children, Gerald (Bo) Ellis, Danny (Angela) Ellis, Shawn Ivey, Rollin (J.R.) Washburne (Kelly) Tahni (Lawrence Demello); 11 grandchildren five great grandchildren.
She was affectionately known as “Elmo” by her baby grandson Jacob. Her father, Charlie Brown; her four sisters and three brothers, numerous nephews and nieces.
Joyce was preceded in death her mother, Gracie Hamlin and her brothers, Eddie Ray Brown and Sebastian Brown. She is also survived by two special ladies that also were like daughters, Crystal Acord and Kelly Fouch.
Joyce spent the last 15 years ministering the gospel of Jesus Christ, Jesus was her one true love she loved to dance and praise in worship. Joyce was always quick to share a word or scripture from the Lord.
Service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Melton Mortuary Chapel, Beckley. Joyce will be layed to rest in Wills Cemetery in Arnett, W.Va., next to her grandparents Rev. Golden and Pink Gibson. Officiating will be Pastor Brenda Wiley, the soloist is Debra Ann Graves.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
The pallbearers are Rollin (J.R.) Washburne, Gerald Ellis, Danny Ellis, Chris Wiley, Troy Brown Jr., and Charles Dewayne Brown. Alternates will be Gary Graves, and Kenneth Lancaster.
