Juanita Adams Barnett
CUB CREEK — Juanita Adams Barnett, 74, of Cub Creek, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus on Wednesday, February 27, 2013, at her home following a short illness.
Born December 29, 1938, in Mingo County, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Cora Effie Johnson Adams.
Juanita was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She dearly loved her family. She was a longtime member of the Brenton Baptist Church where she served very faithfully as a Sunday School teacher, longtime member of the Baptist Women, and served for many years as the Church Clerk. She enjoyed being at church every time the doors were open; she also received her 20-year pin for perfect attendance in Sunday School. She loved ginsenging, quilting, crocheting, gardening, and being outdoors. She loved working on handmade art, that she called her projects; she won three Blue Ribbons at the West Virginia State Fair over the last three years. She was also a member of the Wyoming County Genealogical Society. She loved traveling and going all over the country; she loved the Redwoods in California, the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, and the Badlands in South Dakota.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years Ray Barnett, her son Kenneth Barnett, one brother Ernest Adams, and one sister Beulah Mae Miller.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Mike Barnett and his wife Sandy of Cub Creek, Scott Barnett and his wife Amy of Glen Fork, and her daughter-in-law Brenda Barnett of Cub Creek; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; one brother Eugene Adams of Mocksville, N.C., and four sisters Ramona Miller and Josephine Riffe of North Carolina, Marie Miller of Cub Creek, Knylene Pierce of Huntington. The members of the Brenton Baptist Church whom she loved as family. A countless host of nieces, nephews and dearly loved friends.
Services celebrating the memory of Sister Juanita will be held at the Brenton Baptist Church on Sunday, March 3, 2013, at 2 p.m. with her pastor Rev. Tommy Knotts officiating. Following the service Juanita will be laid to rest in the Barnett Family Cemetery on Rock House Mountain. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Friends may gather with the family from 1 p.m. until service time Sunday at the church.
