Veronica Ann Arbogast

WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS — Veronica Ann Arbogast, 92, died Monday, December 10, 2012.

Funeral Mass Services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Friday, December 14, 2012, at the St. Charles Borromeo Church in White Sulphur Springs with Father Chapin C. Engler officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, Mt. Loretto Cemetery, White Sulphur Springs.

The family will receive their friends on Thursday evening, December 13, 2012, at the funeral home 6 to 8 p.m., with a wake service at 7:30 p.m.

Shanklin Funeral Home, White Sulphur Springs, is serving the family.

Roger Lewis ‘Louie’ Arthur

Roger Lewis “Louie” Arthur, age 64, of  Beckley, passed away on Tuesday, December 11, 2012, at the Bowers Hospice House in Beckley.

Born on March 9, 1948 in Mabscott, W.Va., he was the son of the late Snowden Arthur and Nona Cummings Arthur.

Mr. Arthur was longtime employee of Warren’s Oil Company as a warehouse employee.  He was of the Baptist faith, and a US Army Veteran of the Vietnam Conflict.

Mr. Arthur was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Beckley. He was an avid fan of the New York Yankees, New York Jets, and the WV Mountaineers.

His brother, Raymon Lynn Arthur preceded him in death.

Those survivors left to cherish his memory include his sister, Ann Davis of Mabscott, a brother Snowden Landis Arthur of Mabscott, a niece Jessica Davis and her fiancé Keith Nye of Mabscott, and nephew Jeffrey Davis of Mabscott; two special friends, Brian McMahan and Danny Warren.

Special Thanks to Bowers Hospice House for their love and support.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday December 14, 2012 at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley with Rev. Orville Setliff officiating. Burial will follow at the Oak Grove Cemetery at Oak Grove, W.Va.

Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the services on Friday.

Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Hattie Mae Thompson Blevins

Hattie Mae (Thompson) Blevins, age 84, of Coal City, passed away on Monday, December 10, 2012 at The Villages at Greystone Inn, following an extended illness.

Born August 4, 1928 in Coal City, to the late Joseph Lester and Nellie Thompson.

Ms. Blevins was a member of Coal City Freewill Baptist and enjoyed gardening.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Vance Ray Blevins Jr.; a brother, Paul Thompson; sisters, Margaret Nelson and Evelyn Blankenship; and a son-in-law, Ernie Black.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Martha Black of Coal City, and Barbara Morris (Steve) of Bristol, Va.; sisters, Betty Blankenship of Mentor-on-the-Lake, Ohio, and Sue Simpson (Jerry) of Olmsted Falls, Ohio; grandchildren, Doug Black (Debbie), Brian Black, Christine Higgins (James), Ellen Rost (Andrew), step-grandson, Chris Morris (Jennifer); great-grandchildren, Ashton Makwana (Kunal), D.J. Black, Olivia and Beth Higgins, Jack and Jeb Morris.

A service to celebrate the life of Hattie Blevins will be conducted 11 a.m. on Friday, December 14, 2012, at Coal City Freewill Baptist Church, with Pastor Charlie Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Thompson Cemetery, Coal City.

Family will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Chapel in Beckley.

Drema Darlene Bragg, 61, of Mt. View, W.Va., passed away on Sunday, December 9, 2012.

There will be no services or visitation.

Emma Faye Cook

MATHENY — Emma Faye Cook, 79, departed this life Saturday, December 8, 2012.

Born June 20, 1933, in Kistler, she was the daughter of the late Keenan and Georgia Abshire.

Mrs. Cook was a homemaker.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Randall Cook; two brothers, Hurley and Donald Abshire.

Those left to cherish her memory are two sons, Randy Cook and wife, Martha of Jesse, and Tim Cook and wife, Margaret of Monticello, Maine: a daughter, Judy Easter and husband, Jim of Matheny; a brother, Sylvanis Abshire of Covington, Va.; two sisters, Mavis Wade of Weston and Eva Sanders of Beckley; six grandchildren, David Easter and wife, Ginger of Lebanon, Ohio, Susan McNeely and husband, T.C. of Matheny, Matt Cook and wife, Sara of Oceana, Mark Easter and wife, Traci of Charleston and Jeremy and Justin Cook of Monticello, Maine; five great-grandchildren, Ryleigh and Logan McNeely of Matheny, Zane Cook of Oceana, Carsyn and Tucker Easter of Lebaon, Ohio; nieces and nephews and a host of family and friends.

A celebration of Mrs. Cook's life will be 2 p.m. Thursday, December 13, 2012, at Adam Toler Memorial Chapel with Rev. David White officiating. Mrs. Cook will be laid to rest in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny.

Casketbearers will be grandsons, Matt Cook, T. C. McNeely, David Easter, Mark Easter, Jeremy Cook and Justin Cook.

The family will receive friends from noon until time of service Thursday at the funeral home.

Leonard William Foose

Leonard William “Bo” Foose, 58, passed away on December 7, 2012, at 10:20 p.m. at the Summers County Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, surrounded by his family, following a long battle with liver cancer.

Born in Hinton, W.Va., on December 14, 1953, he was the son of Margie Vest of Ballard and his step-father, the late Earl Vest. He was also preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Shirley Ennis, his uncle, Billy Ray Ennis, and an aunt, Jane Lee Ennis.

Before his illness, Bo worked at the Ham Sanitary Landfill at Bozoo as a compactor operator, and was of the Baptist faith.

Besides his mother, survivors include his daughter, Krystol Foose, aunts and uncles, Archie Ennis of Chicago, Ill., Charles Ennis and wife Francie of Lake Butler, Fla., Linda Ennis of Clintwood, Va., Rosie Lee Martin and husband Junior of Lake Butler, Fla., Glenn Ennis and wife Juanita of Hinton, Mary Ann Hayes and husband Gabby of Meadow Bridge and two great aunts, Helen Workman and Betty Crowe, both of Meadow Bridge and numerous cousins.

At Bo’s request, the body has been cremated and a private memorial will be held at a later date at the Ennis Family Cemetery near Peterstown, W.Va.

COLLEYVILLE, Texas — Sally Joy (Moore) Henry, 75, died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012.

Larry Ted Stacy

PEMBERTON — Larry Ted Stacy, 66, of Pemberton, passed away Saturday, December 8, 2012.

Born May 9, 1946 in Beckley, he was the son of the late Ted Theodore Stacy and Doris Evelyn Wyatt Perdue.

Larry formerly worked for Crooks Produce and was involved with Beckley Motor Speedway for over 50 years. He was a member of the Gracemen Quartet and was a member of St. Mary’s United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Frances Ann McVey Stacy; daughters, Alice Lynn Al-Hosainy and husband Mohsin of Beckley and Melissa Kae Lyons and husband Olaus of Wessington Springs, S.D.; grandchildren, Joseph Rush of Pemberton, Staci Dillon-Hibbard of Arnett, W.Va., Sidney Lyons of Wessington Springs, S.D.; great grandchildren, Nicole Ann Hibbard and Michael Hibbard of Arnett.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, December 14, 2012, at the Hollywood Baptist Church, with Pastor Rick Martin officiating. Burial will follow in the McVey Cemetery at Sullivan.

Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church.

Members of Beckley Motor Speedway will serve as pallbearers.

WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS — Stella Louise Walsh, 73, died Monday, December 10, 2012.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Saturday, December 15, 2012, at Hillcrest Cemetery, White Sulphur Springs, with Rev. Everett Definbaugh officiating.  Immediately following the service, the family invites everyone to Calvin “Buddy” Walsh’s home at 488 Old Powell Road, Lewisburg, for food and refreshments.

There will be no other visitation before the service.
