Betty Bowman

RAVENCLIFF — Betty Bowman, 66, of Ravencliff, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 1, 2012, at Bowers Hospice House, Beckley.

Betty was born December 21, 1945, in Baltimore, Md., a daughter of Mandy Jane Tilley Allen of Ravencliff, and the late Brian Bowman.

She was the former cemetery manager at Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny.

In addition to her father, her step father Claude Preston Allen also preceded her in death, along with a brother, Jackie Allen and grandparents, Robert “Bud” and Ila Mae Allen and Manley and Louella Tilley.

Betty was a Christian and will be sadly missed.

Survivors include her mother Mandy Jane Tilley Allen; three sisters, Nancy Allen, Doris Allen and Donna Allen, all of Ravencliff; four brothers, Dennis (Susan) Allen of McGraws, Darrell “Jake” (Tammy) Allen of Glen Fork, Claude Allen Jr. and Randell Allen, both of Ravencliff; and a host of other loving family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, December 5, 2012, in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, with Rev. Ernest Francis officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Pretty Ridge Cemetery, Saulsville.

Friends may gather with the family from noon until service time at the funeral home.

Mabel Virginia Bragg

Mabel Virginia Bragg, 78, of Beaver, passed away Saturday, December 1, 2012, following a long illness.

Born March 3, 1934, in Hinton, she was the daughter of the late Earl Inscore and Clara Harrington Moore.

Mabel was a Jehovah’s Witness, and enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, and she loved being a homemaker.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years Joseph Bragg, her sister Clara Edwards, and her brother Albert Inscore.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Tommy Bragg and wife Susan of Beaver, and her daughter, Donna Denson and husband Scott of Mount Airy, N.C.; four  grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and loving friends.

A memorial service will be held for Mabel at a later date.

Donations in Mabel’s honor can be made to Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, North Carolina.
