Cyrus Landon Bragg
Cyrus Landon Bragg, age 76, of Ellison Ridge, WV, passed away on Monday, Dec. 24, 2012, at the Beckley VA Medical Center in Beckley.
Born on August 30, 1936, in Coal City, WV, he was the son of the late Cyrus Bragg and Ethel Smith Bragg.
Mr. Bragg was a retired carpenter, and was a U.S. Army Veteran. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, and had lived all of his life in Summers and Raleigh Counties.
A son, Michael Bragg, preceded him in death, along with a brother, Cletis Bragg.
Those survivors left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Lisa Galford of Ghent, WV; a daughter, Rhonda Lilly and her husband Bobby of Jumping Branch, WV; three grandchildren, Waylon Pack, Chasity Bragg, and Anthony Lilly; a brother, Robert Bragg and his wife Sue of Ellison Ridge, WV; Gerald Bragg of Flat Top, WV; his companion of 19 years, Sheila Hall of Beckley; and the mother of his children, Frankie Bragg Gowman of Ghent, WV.
A memorial service will be conducted to celebrate the life of Cyrus Landon Bragg on Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, at 4 p.m. at the Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home Shady Spring Chapel with Elder Mervin Hairston officiating. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the memorial service.

Elizabeth Ann Biars
HINTON — Elizabeth Ann Biars, 69, of 495 Stokes Drive, Hinton, died Sunday Dec. 23, 2012, at Summers County A.R.H. Hospital in Hinton after a sudden illness.
Born Dec. 9, 1943, at Gauley Bridge, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Lorena Ward Sampson.
Ann was a member of Central Baptist Church in Hinton and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She had lived most of her life in Summers County.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward “Bubby” Biars. Also preceded by a daughter, Deonna Biars.
Survivors include a son, Thomas Biars of Hinton; two daughters, Patricia Biars of Hinton and Milda Adkins of Beckley; one brother, Clarence “Buddy” Sampson of Beaver; two sisters, Ruby Thompson and Mary Cox, both of Pipestem; four grandchildren, Jessica Martin, Alex Gill, Britney Gill and Brian Gill; and two great-grandchildren, Gabrielle and Danielle Martin.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Robbie Merritt officiating. Burial will follow in Valley View Cemetery on Powleys Creek. Friends may call from 1 p.m. until time of services on Thursday at the funeral home.
