Dorothy Hunt Dixon
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Dorothy Hunt Dixon, a resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico, since 1981, went to be with our Lord and the rest of her family, Icie Mae Cantley-Hunt, Robert Hunt, Billy Hunt and Gladys Hunt Turpin, on Friday, April 2, 2010, following a lengthy illness.
Dorothy was born January 23, 1919, in Oak Hill, WV. She moved, with her daughter Jean, to California in 1959, then again to Albuquerque, NM, in 1981. She was a loving, giving, wonderful, selfless mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her daughter, Jean Hart of Albuquerque, NM; two grandsons, Eddie Crist and Nick Hart, both of Albuquerque, NM; four nieces in northern and southern California, 25 of their children as well as 13 nieces and nephews in and around Oak Hill and Glen Jean, WV, and numerous children of theirs.
Funeral and memorial service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 8, 2010, at the Sun Full Gospel Church at Sun with Rev. Robert Burnett officiating. Burial will follow at Hilltop Cemetery at Hilltop, with the entire family.
There will be a gathering at Sun Church after the burial for everyone. Please come and visit with members of the family from California and New Mexico as we may not be able to get back to West Virginia again for some time.
The family would like to thank all those who helped them in the past few months of Dorothy’s illness, especially doctors and nurses at Presbyterian Hospital (Dr. Cano). A special thank you to those wonderful nurses at Kaseman Hospice, Jan, Kathy, Linda, who were so helpful and comforting to the family in their time of grief and pain.

Beulah Angelene Karnes
Beulah Angelene Karnes, age 84, of Beckley, West Virginia, passed away on Sunday, September 5, 2010, at the Bowers Hospice House following a long illness.
Born September 25, 1925, in Maben, WV, she was the daughter of the late Stephen M. Wood Sr. and Marinda Sizemore Wood.
Mrs. Karnes was a homemaker, and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Surfside, South Carolina. She had returned to the Beckley area since March 2010, having previously resided in Garden City, South Carolina. She had made the Beckley area her home for most of her life.
Mrs. Karnes was preceded in death by her husbands, Howard Karnes Sr. and Elvin Burleson. She was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Michael Karnes, by 6 brothers, Edwin, Roman, Howard, Cleve, Blane, and Jimmy Wood. A sister, Norma Jean Hilbert-Epler, and 2 grandchildren also preceded her in death.
Surviving are her children, Margie Osborne of Sebring, Florida; Howard Karnes Jr. and his wife Joy of Meadow Bridge, WV; Mark Karnes and his wife Nancy of Beckley, WV; Treasa Fox and her husband Steve of Mesa, Arizona; Anna West and her husband D.J. of Livonia, Michigan; Richard Karnes of Beckley, WV; Lori Chapman of Beckley.
A brother, Stephen Wood Jr. and his wife June of Beckley, WV, and 4 sisters, Eva Cooper of Beaver, WV; Selda Jarrell of New Jersey; Daphine Stokely of Beckley, WV, and Shirley Lafferty and her husband Jan of Beckley also survive.
Mrs. Karnes is survived by 19 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley, West Virginia, on Tuesday, September 7, 2010, at 2 p.m. with Pastor Larry Halsey officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity, WV.
Friends may call at the funeral home from noon until service time on Tuesday.
Grandsons, great-grandsons, and her nephew will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, donations of sympathy may be made to the Bowers Hospice House, 454 Cranberry Drive, Beckley, West Virginia, in memory of Mrs. Karnes.

Robert Lee Snider Sr.
Robert Lee Snider, Sr., of Fairdale, passed away Saturday, September 4, 2010, at his residence following a long illness.
Born September 9, 1921, in Rymer, WV, he was the son of the late Wesley and Vera Glover Snider.
Robert was a retired well tender for Hope Gas Co. He was a member of the Pineville Masonic Lodge, Beni Kedem Shrine Temple and a veteran of WWII.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank and Gene Snider.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Betty Straight Snider; sons, Robert Lee Snider, Jr., and wife Kathy of Mannington, WV, and Dennis Snider and wife Donna of Arnett, WV; grandsons, Wesley Snider of Kuwait and Dennis L. Snider, Jr., of Arnett; great-granddaughter, Zoey Snider of OH; brother, Billy Joe Snider and wife Catherine of Mannington, WV; stepgranddaughters, Angela Acebedo and Amanda Ammons; stepgreat-grandchildren, Miguel, Caden and Alexis Acebedo.
Graveside services and burial will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, September 8, 2010, in Mannington Memorial Park, Mannington, WV, with Pastor Bill Coon officiating.

Mr. John L. Thompson, 73, of Beckley died Tuesday at BARH hospital following a long illness.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Welcome Baptist Church with the Rev. David Allen officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to services at church. Burial will be at Greenwood Memorial Park.

Glenn Lloyd Todd
WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — Glenn Lloyd Todd, 76, entered into rest on Sunday, September 5, 2010, with his wife and children at his side.
Mr. Todd, born on July 18, 1934, in Orgas, West Virginia, was the third son of Curtis and Nellie (Simmons) Todd.
He was a 1953 graduate of Trap Hill High School. Mr. Todd served his country with great pride and honor in the United States Army, serving during the time of the Korean Conflict. After retiring from the Army, Mr. Todd spent his time in Michigan, employed as a tool and dye technician. In 2004, he attended his high school reunion, where he was reunited with his high school sweetheart, Barbara Athey. They married on September 11, 2004.
Mr. Todd is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Charles and Bobby Todd; first wife, Joan League; and second wife, Helen Russell.
His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife, Barbara Athey Todd, Warner Robins; sons, Greg and Brian Todd, of Lester, WV; granddaughter, Briannah Todd, Lester, WV; stepchildren, Fredrick Thomas, Warner Robins; Pamela Brazell (David), Norcross; seven stepgrandchildren; and three great-stepgrandchildren.
Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, September 7, 2010, at McCullough Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 7, 2010, at 3 p.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Parkway Memorial Gardens with full military honors.
