Lillian May Alderson
HINTON — Lillian May Alderson, 99, of 313 Miller Ave., Hinton, died at 12:20 p.m. Friday, August 17, 2012, at her home, following a long illness.
Born May 8, 1913, at Royal, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Emmette and Faye Long Mann.
Ms. Alderson was a graduate of Hinton High School and received a B.S. from Marshall University. She was a retired school teacher for Summers County school system. She was also a member of the Hinton First United Methodist Church and the Summers County Retired Teachers Association.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Granville S. Alderson Jr., in 1994; one sister, Jessie Mann Melton; and a brother-in-law, Hiter Melton.
Survivors include a son, Jim Alderson and wife Kitty of Barboursville, W.Va., and a daughter, Martha Jane Alderson of St. Louis, Mo. Grandchildren: Tracy and wife Stephanie Alderson and Tommy and wife Leslie Alderson, both of Greensboro, N.C. Three great-grandsons: Nicholas, Nathan and Jason Alderson, all of Greensboro, N.C.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, August 23, 2012, at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton, with Rev. Rick Duncan officiating. Burial will follow in the Alderson Cemetery, Alderson.
Friends may call from 1 p.m. until time of services on Thursday at the funeral home.
Men of Hinton First United Methodist Church will serve as pallbearers.

LEWISBURG — Delford William “Bill” Bartlett Jr., a native of Rainelle, passed away Thursday, July 12, 2012.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, at Lewisburg United Methodist Church, Lewisburg, with the Rev. Joseph Kenaston officiating. Burial will follow in Rosewood Cemetery, Lewisburg.
