Donald Dean Acord, 76, of Daniels, passed away Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012.

He was cremated, and there will be no services.

Edna Marie Farley

Edna Marie Farley, age 95, of Cool Ridge, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, December 8, 2012, at Raleigh General Hospital after a long illness.

Born September 30, 1917, in Ellison Ridge, WV, she was the daughter of the late James Farley and Ada Bolen Farley.

Mrs. Farley was a Blue Ribbon Homemaker and had made her home in Cool Ridge for 66 years. She was an avid gardener and raised beautiful flowers for her enjoyment and for others; she took great pride in canning for her family. She did rise early, cooked, cleaned, and made many quilts during her lifetime. She was a faithful member of Cool Ridge Baptist Church for as long as her health permitted. For the past two years she had been a resident of Heartland of Beckley where she enjoyed bird watching.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Clinton Farley, of 74 years until his passing; son, Dempsey Ray Farley; brothers, Ezra, Clifford, Robert Thomas Farley; four infant brothers; sisters, Ora Brammer, Maude Farley, Ivory Farley, Della Lively, and Vinnie Hatcher.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her children, Juanita Bailey (David) of Prince Frederick, MD, Shelby Titus (Tom) of Gainesville, VA, Dennis Farley (Debbie) of Cool Ridge, Janice McConahy (Paul) of Cool Ridge, Larry Farley of Mooresburg, TN, Billy Farley (Rose) of Cool Ridge, Darren Farley of Cool Ridge; brother, Ray Farley of Ohio; sisters-in-law, Nellie Mullens (Covey), Mary Bolen, Emma McBride; 14 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and also a host of nieces and nephews.

Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Farley will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 11, 2012, at the Rose and Quesenberry Shady Spring Chapel with Rev. Jeff Sanders officiating and assisted by Edna’s son-in-law, Tom Titus. She will be laid to rest at Mt. View Cemetery in Cool Ridge.

Family will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be held on Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Shady Spring Chapel.

Maxine Richmond Hamilton

SOUTH CHARLESTON — Maxine Richmond Hamilton, 83, of South Charleston passed away Sunday, December 2, 2012, at Candlelight Cottage of St. Albans.

Born September 7, 1929, in Montcoal, Maxine was a daughter of the late Walter and Gertie Canterbury Richmond. She was also preceded by her husband and soulmate, Harold G. Hamilton, and sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Maurice Oakley.

She was a graduate of Marsh Fork High School, retired clerk with the United States Postal Service and a member of First Presbyterian Church, South Charleston. She was a forty-year resident of South Charleston.

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Susan (Vernon) Lambert of Newnan, GA, and Peggy (James) Shelton of St. Albans; grandchildren, Bridget Lambert Mattox of Richmond, KY, Jillian Shelton (Chad) Bridge of Raleigh, NC, Nicholas Shelton Jacksonville, AL; great-grandson, Bryce Mattox, and great-granddaughter, Bailey Mattox, both of Richmond, KY; nephews, Dr. Maurice (Judy) Oakley of Ashland, KY, and Donald (Pam) Oakley of Covington, KY.

Private services were held to honor her life.

SUN HILL — Fred Hughes, 91, passed away Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, at Evans Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, the Rev. Jay Blankenship officiating. Interment will follow at Jay Hughes Cemetery, Sun Hill. Friends may gather with the family 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, at the funeral home.

GLEN FORK — Ronald D. Lafferty, 62, of Glen Fork, died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012.

Stella Marie Lively

FAYETTEVILLE — Stella Marie Lively, age 94, formerly of Dry Hill, passed away on Friday, December 7, 2012, at the Fayette Nursing and Rehab Center in Fayetteville, WV, after a long illness. She had previously lived at the Villages of Greystone in Beaver, WV, from 2009 until 2012.  

Born on October 1, 1918, in Owensboro, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late James and Annie Woods Evans. She moved with her parents to WV when she was 6 years old, living first in Lochgelly, WV, then later in Cranberry. She met the love of her life and married Eugene Lively on December 24, 1936. They were together for 67 years before he passed away in 2003.

Stella was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, making quilts, going to church services and spending time with her family whom she loved, and they loved her.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Alvey, Leroy, and Estil Evans. By three sisters, Virginia Morris, Ethelyn Crisp, and Opal Baker. Also her son-in-law, Fred Arthur.  

Those left to cherish her memory include two daughters, Betty Arthur of Prosperity, and Alice Cox and her husband Paul of Medina, Ohio. Four grandchildren, Steve Arthur and his wife Tammie of Beckley, Greg Arthur and his wife Sherrie of Charlotte, NC, Keith Cox of Medina, Ohio, and Lori Aveni and her husband Scott of Apex, NC. Six Great-grandchildren, Jake and Gigi Cox of Medina, Ohio, Patrick and Michael Aveni of Apex, NC, and John and Mark Arthur of Charlotte, NC. Two sisters, Hazel Bossert of Barberton, Ohio, and Sadie Watson of Akron, Ohio.

The family wishes to thank all of the staff at the Fayette Nursing and Rehab for the wonderful care given to Mrs. Lively during her stay at the facility.

Funeral services will be conducted to Celebrate The Life Of Stella Marie Lively on Monday, December 10, 2012, at 1 p.m. at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel, Beckley, with Rev. Fred Lovell officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity, WV. Friends may call at the funeral home two hours prior to the services. Randall C. Warden

Randall C. Warden, 55, of Beckley, passed away Saturday, December 8, 2012. Born December 30, 1956, in Beckley, he was the son of the late George and Ora Mae Allen Warden, Sr.

Randall was pastor for 6 years at Maple Valley Baptist Church in Maple Fork and also worked for WJLS A.M. Radio. In addition to pastoring he taught at Greater Beckley Christian School where he altered the lives of many young people. He was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and Liberty University where he was also an alumni member. Randall had a love for the outdoors, bird watching and hiking.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 26 years, Carol Warden; daughter, Hannah Warden of Beckley; son Hunter Warden of Beckley; Brothers, Rev. George Warden, Sr., and his wife Pam of Lexington, VA, and Benny Warden and his wife Darlene of Stanaford; brothers-in-law, Tom Hamrick and his wife Sandi of Oregon, OH, and Larry Hamrick of Shady Spring; mother and father-in-law, Adam and Imogene Hamrick of Shady Spring; nieces, Leslie Carter, Shelly Paice and Erin Leiser; nephew Benny Warden, Jr.; special companion, Chloe; and several great-nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 15, at the Maple Valley Baptist Church with Rev. George Warden, Jr., officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Frank Williams, Bill Adkins, Larry Arbrogast, Dwight Reggi and Donald Miller and honorary pallbearer, Justin Arvon.

The family asks that memorial contributions be made in memory of Randall for Hannah and Hunter’s education.

Adline Roberts Wilson

Adline Roberts Wilson, age 64, of Glade Springs, Daniels, WV, passed away on Sunday, December 9, 2012, at home.

Born on March 16, 1948, in Monrovia, Liberia, West Africa, she was the daughter of Edit Roberts and Catherine Cooper Roberts.

Mrs. Wilson was a homemaker, and had shared her home in the United States and West Africa for the past 21 years.

She is survived by her husband, Charles Wilson, two daughters, Euphemia Oye and her husband Dr. Herbert Oye of Daniels, WV; and Catherine Washington of Dallas, Texas.

8 grandchildren are also among her survivors.

Nathan Theodore Wyrick

Nathan Theodore Wyrick, 76, of Beckley, passed away Saturday, December 8, 2012, at Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital.

Nathan was born July 31, 1936, at Pemberton, West Virginia. He enjoyed church services at Pinecrest, listening to gospel music and playing his harmonica.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of the 3rd Floor at Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital for their care and kindness. A thank you also goes out to the people of Pinecrest on 3B where he spent 24 years and all the hearts he touched by his smile and laughter at Pinelodge.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Dorothy Wyrick; brother, Harry Wyrick; sisters, Madeline and Barbara Wyrick; grandparents, Randall and Ida Mae Ward and Martin and Lucy Wyrick.

Left to cherish his memory are his sister, Wanda McClung of Beckley; brother, Lonzo Wyrick of Clawson, Michigan; sister, Dixie St. Clair and husband, Sidney, of Blue Ridge, Virginia; and his many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Services celebrating the life of Nathan will be held Tuesday, December 11, 2012, at 2 p.m. in the chapel at Williams-Blue Ridge Funeral Home in Sophia. Following the services Nathan will be laid to rest at Hot Coal Cemetery in Sophia.

Friends may gather with the family one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
