Timothy R. Clifton

Timothy Russell Clifton, 40, of Harper died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012.

Dorman Odell Crawford

FOREST HILL — Dorman Odell Crawford, 84, of Forest Hill, died at 12:53 p.m. Friday, November 16, 2012, at Rockin’ Chair Residential Care at Lerona following a long illness.

Born January 17, 1928, at Forest Hill, he was the son of the late John and Lucy Bumgardner Crawford.

Mr. Crawford was a former employee of the West Virginia Department of Highways and was a former Bus driver for the Summers County Board of Education. He was also a self-employed mechanic. He was a member of Spruce Run Chapel at Forest Hill.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Jean Yancey Crawford, in 1993. Also preceded by a son, Gary Crawford, one brother, Dale Crawford, and one sister, Nancy Galligher.

Survivors include two sons, Daniel Crawford and wife Lois of Barren Springs, VA, and Terry Crawford and wife Debbie of Marie. One daughter, Tammy Lyall and husband Gary of Pence Springs. Grandchildren: Kelly Crawford, Scott Crawford, Kayla Pettrey, Melissa Burnett, Daniel Crawford, Jr., Tony Lyall, Tonya Smith, Terry Mark Crawford and Jared Crawford. Twelve great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, November 19, 2012, at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Pastors Tommy Mounts and Orville Meadows officiating. Burial will follow in the Huffman Cemetery at Buck.

Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be: Terry Mark Crawford, Jared Crawford, Scott Crawford, Robbie Turner, Marvin Smith, Scotty Reed and Johnny Wheeler.

Delano Dennis Dean

Delano Dennis Dean, age 71, of Beckley, son of the late John Taylor Dean and Daisy Abrams Dean, was born at Hazy, on October 25, 1941, and went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, November 16, 2012.

Mr. Dean served in the U.S. Air Force, worked 29 years as a coal miner with Eastern Associated Coal, Harris #1, and  7 years with RCCAA after his retirement with the coal mines. He was a trustee, teacher, and helper at the Glen Fork Church of God and a servant of God The Father and His Son, Yeshua, since 1975.

He was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Noah, Keith, Lawrence, Cleo, Dorothy, and Thelma.

Those of his family left here on earth are his wife, Patricia, of over 47 years, His daughter, Jennifer and her husband Steve Stover, granddaughters Louressia Nichole Flowers and Samatha Lynn Smith, and great-granddaughter, MacKenzie Jean Bush, all of Crab Orchard. A sister, Diane and her husband Dess Massey of Lincoln, Arkansas, and nieces and nephews. Brother-in-law and sister-in-law Junior and Sue Kyle of Moorefield, WV, and Donnie and Karen Bunch of Fairdale, WV.

Mr. Dean invites everyone to his Going Home Party. Come celebrate with us at the Glen Fork Church of God on Monday, November 19, 2012, with Rev. Darrell Stapleton officiating. The wake will be from 5 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. on Monday, November 19, 2012, with the Going Home Party beginning at 6:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bowers Hospice House, 454 Cranberry Drive, Beckley, WV, or to the Glen Fork Church of God Love In Action.

Pallbearers will be men of the church, along with Steve Stover and Ronnie Williams.

Graveside Rites and Burial will follow on Tuesday, November 20, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Park in Beckley.

SCARBRO — Dollie Dove Dick, 86, of Scarbro, passed away Thursday, November 15, 2012, at Ansted Center, Ansted.

Dollie’s funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, November 19, 2012, at High Lawn Funeral Home Chapel, 1435 E. Main Street, Oak Hill, with Pastor Robert Morey officiating.

Jonathan Michael Dutton

Jonathan Michael Dutton, 36, of Beckley, passed away Wednesday, November 14, 2012, in Charleston.

Born August 23, 1976, he is the son of Kathy Entinger and her husband David and Mike Dutton and his wife Angie.

He was preceded in death by a son, Taylor Dutton, and a brother, James Dutton.

Jon was a maintenance supervisor at Manor House Apartments. He was a drummer for Illusionary Field Unit. Jon was very passionate for the love of his life, Shelli, and their children.

Besides his parents Jon is survived by his wife, Shelli Lynn Dutton; son, Kaeric Addison Dutton; daughter, Abigail Kennedy Elise Dutton; son, Jonathan Gabriel Dutton; brothers and sisters, Jamie Gambill of South Carolina, Amber Harvey of Texas, Tammy Peppers of Texas, Heather Deuzat of Texas, Cindy Waddell of South Carolina, Frankie Waddell of South Carolina, Airan Entinger, Kaylan Parker, Kristen Sever and Amanda Entinger of West Virginia; and numerous other family and friends.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, November 19, at Calfee Funeral Home with Pastor Mitch Alkire officiating. Friends may visit the family from 12 p.m. until time of service. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be John Ashley, Andy Duncan, Josh Bibb and Chris Riser.

Kaydance Kelly Easter, 40 days old, daughter of William and Jessica Lively Easter II of Beckley, died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012.

Teresa Faye Henry

OCEANA — Teresa Faye Henry, 48, departed this life Thursday, November 15, 2012.

Born June 24, 1965, she was the daughter of the late James Anderson Blackburn and Judy Ann Lester Blackburn.

Teresa was a homemaker, enjoyed shopping, collecting dolls and her animals. She adored her grandchildren and spending time with her family especially holiday dinners.

In addition to her father she was preceded in death by a brother, Derick Blackburn, on October 26, 2012.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Johnnie Henry of Oceana; two sons, Johnathan Henry and wife, Amanda, of Daniels and Christopher Henry and wife, Kelly, of Williamson; three daughters, Angie Daniels and husband, Kevin, of Matheny, Corinna Simpson and husband, Chip, and Sarah Ewing and husband, Reggie, all of Louisville, KY, one brother, James Blackburn and wife, Cynthia, of Kopperston; a sister, Zelda Walls and husband, Glen, of Oceana; ten grandchildren, Dustin and Nathan Cruthfield, Faith LewAllen, Corey and Jamie Simpson, Joselyn and Avin Ewing, McKenzie Jane and Chelsea Henry and Alex Henry; two nieces Hope Hall and Savanna Brown; two nephews, Kevin and Ryan Hall; and a host of family and friends.

A celebration of Teresa’s life will be 2 p.m. Sunday, November 18, 2012, at Adam Toler Memorial Chapel with Pastor John Toler officiating. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny.

James Albert Hill

James Albert Hill, of Beckley, formerly of Glen White, died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012.

Born January 4, 1918, in Mt. Airy, NC, he was the son of the late Johnnie and Lucy Joyce Hill.

He was a coal miner, member of Faith Temple of Deliverance, TPC church, baptized in a creek in Slabfork and was filled with the Holy Ghost in 2001. He was a man of faith, who loved everyone, and was an avid baseball player.

In addition to his wife, Inez Hill, and parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Brady, Joe, Willie, and Edward; two sisters, Essie Baxter and Clara Smith; grandson, Charles Henry Wade, Jr.; granddaughter, Tanya Yvette Hill; and great-grandson, Aaron Pearson.

He leaves to cherish five sons, James (Evelyn) Hill of Beckley, WV, Ronald (Cherry) Hill of Bronx, NY, Mark (Sarah Ann) Hill of Plainfield, NJ, Rodney (Tamara) Hill of Beckley, WV, and Douglas Hill of Charleston, WV; two daughters, Linda Faye (Eric) Tyler of Hickory, NC, and Patsy Darnell Pannell (Robert) of Charleston, WV; sister, Ethlene Henry of Beckley, WV; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mary Hill; and a host of nieces, nephew, relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012, at Faith Temple of Deliverance, 119 Deegans St., Beckley, WV, with Bishop Bob Tunstalle and Bishop Tony O. Carter officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity, WV. Friends may call one half hour prior to the service at the church.

Mrs. Cynthia Hyman, 82, of Beckley, died Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012.

Sandra Kay Perez

Sandra Kay Perez, age 69, of Blue Jay, WV, passed away at the Bowers Hospice House in Beckley on Friday, November 16, 2012.

Born on August 20, 1943, in Pemberton, WV, she was the daughter of Shirley McVey Testement of Blue Jay, WV, and the late Henderson Testement.

Mrs. Perez was a homemaker, and had attended the Pemberton Baptist Church. She had made her home at Blue Jay for the past 40 years.

Mrs. Perez was preceded in death by her husband Ronald Perez.

In addition to her mother, those survivors left to cherish her memory include her children: Stephen Perez and his wife Carolyn of Blue Jay, Gregory Perez of Blue Jay, and Angela Perez of Charlottesville, Virginia.

Brothers, Johnny Testement and his wife Lee of Texas, Ricky Testement and his wife Brenda of Oak Hill, Chester Testement and his wife Ann of Pemberton, and David Testement  of Blue Jay.

Sisters: Loretta Buzbee of Florida, Pauline Wilson of Virginia, Tammy Denslow of Florida, Brenda Testement of Florida, and Bonnie Crews of Princewick.

Grandchildren, Jessie, Jennifer, Heather, and James. A great-grandchild Skylar.

A memorial service will be conducted at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley on Friday, November 23, 2012, at 3 p.m. with Rev. James Ford officiating. Billy Ray Peters Sr.

Billy Ray Peters Sr., 83, of Glen Morgan went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 16, 2012. Born April 11, 1929, he was the son of the late Sam and Ethel Runyon Peters.

Billy was a veteran of the United States Army; he was former Boy Scout leader for troop 529. He was a coal miner and a member of the UMWA; he was of the Baptist Faith. Billy loved helping people, and taking care of his neighbors, and being outdoors, and loved camping. He was a true friend to all that knew him.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death on September 20, 2012, by his loving wife of 57 years Shirley Peters, a great-grandson Joseph Hosler, his brothers Woodrow, Robert, Sonny, and his sisters Virginia, Deloris, and Marie.

Those left to cherish his memories include a sister Margret Veid, his sisters-in-law Ruby Alice Akers, Patty Cannon; brother-in-law, Ralph Darlington and wife Tomi Peck; daughter, Pamela Thacker and husband Adam of Sylvester; son, Billy Ray Peters Jr. and wife Christy Graham of Glen Morgan; grandchildren, Tina Byrd and husband James of Beckley, Clayton Hollingsworth and wife Rebecca of Beckley, Jeanie Hosler and husband Jeff of Beckley, Billy Ray Peters III, and wife Danielle of Glen Morgan, and their mother, Carol Barclay, Daysha Mills, Kailey Cabe, Isaak Ritchie, Ariana Powell and their mother Christy; Mathew DeBerry, Sammy Peters, Serenity Whitener, Aubrey Whitener and their mother, Amy Whitener; great-grandchildren, Erica Redden, Courtney Redden, Kaitlyn Hollingsworth, Jaylyn Byrd, Chelsea Hollingsworth, Rylea Hosler and Allie Hosler, and a host of nieces and nephews, and beloved friends.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, November 19, 2012, at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley, with Pastor Michael Knotts officiating.

Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.

Anna Ruth Pivont

HINTON — Anna Ruth Pivont, 100, of Hinton died at 11:46 a.m. Friday, November 16, 2012, at the Woodlands in Clifton Forge, Virginia, after a short illness.

Born July 19, 1912, at Elkins, she was the daughter of the late James Alba and Dollie Grace Taylor Vanscoy.

Ruth was the owner of the Tots & Teens shop in Hinton for 58 years. She had been a member of Central Baptist Church in Hinton since 1943. Ruth was a former member of the Hinton City Council and was active in many civic organizations in Hinton, most notably serving for many years on the West Virginia State Water Festival Committee, which her late husband helped in founding. Ruth had been a resident of Hinton since 1942 and had recently resided with her daughter in Clifton Forge.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Ray Pivont, Sr., in December 1976. Also preceded by four brothers, Russell, Stanley, Paul and George Vanscoy. Three sisters, Virginia Eastin, Marie Johnson and Betty June Hart. A Son-in-law, John Hardy.

Survivors include a son, Leon Ray Pivont, Jr., and wife Donna of Hinton. Three daughters, Sandra Hardy of Clifton Forge, VA, Kay Fleshman and husband Bobby Hinton and Stephanie Callaghan and husband Dave of Charleston. Four brothers, Robert Vanscoy and wife Mildred of Naples, FL, and Howard Vanscoy, Hubert Vanscoy and wife Betty and Harry Vanscoy and wife Twila, all of Elizabeth City, NC. One sister, Carman Ayers of Canal Fulton, OH. Nine grandchildren: Lisa Lester and husband Steve, Brad Hardy, Autumn Paluch and husband Ted, Lee Pivont and wife Dena, Scott Bryson, Rebecca Bragg and husband Steve, Greg Bryson, Cindy Liles and husband Rod, and Susan Slussear. Three stepgrandchildren: Mike, Mark and Elizabeth Callaghan. Twenty-three great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 20, 2012, at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Robbie Merritt officiating. Entombment will follow in the Pivont Mausoleum at Greenbrier Burial Park in Hinton. Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
