Martha Ellen Fox

MEADOW BRIDGE — Martha Ellen Fox, 79, of Meadow Bridge, passed away Friday, September 13, 2013, at her residence following a long illness.

Born October 19, 1933, in Landisburg, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Mildred Fury. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Finley Dorn Fox Sr.; a son, Finley Dorn Fox Jr.; grandmother Susan Gilkerson; sisters Shirley Lance and Katherine Tuck; and brothers John and Joseph (Jack) Fury.

Survivors include four daughters, Delores Teegarden and husband George of Granite Falls, N.C., Patricia Romine and husband Mike of Meadow Bridge, Donna Campbell of Palm Harbor, Fla., and Mildred “Millie” Fox and husband Ralph Bates of Richmond, Va.; sister, Betty Finlan of Rupert; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Private Family Services will be at 11 a.m. Sunday, September 15, 2013, at the Wallace Memorial Mausoleum, with Preacher Shirley Fox officiating.

Cecil Eugene Hatfield

HINTON — Cecil Eugene Hatfield, 76, of Hinton and Melrose, Fla., died at 7:28 a.m. Friday, September 13, 2013, at Main Street Care in Hinton after a long illness.

Born December 17, 1936, at Matewan, W.Va., he was the son of the late George Washington and Evelyn Lee Ratcliffe Hatfield.

Mr. Hatfield was a 1954 graduate of Magnolia High School at Matewan, W.Va., and a 1959 graduate of Concord College. He also attended Marshall University for graduate studies. He was an educator for the Lee County District School Board in Ft. Myers, Fla. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and was a 36-year resident of Ft. Myers. He was a member and deacon at Bellepoint Baptist Church in Hinton and was also a member of the Hinton Kiwanis Club. Cecil was Director of the West Virginia Water Festival in 1995.

Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Irene Oleksa Hatfield; three brothers, George Ronald Hatfield of Sterling Heights, Mich., Joe William Hatfield of Hurricane, W.Va., and Donald Ray Hatfield of Keystone Heights, Fla.; Aunt, Virgie Barrett of Chesapeake, Va.; special niece, Amanda See of Moorefield, W.Va.; and several other nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, September 14, 2013, at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Butch Honaker officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Committal services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, September 15, 2013, at the Ellison Hatfield Cemetery at Red Jacket, Mingo County, W.Va., with Pastor Barry Lester officiating.
