Vesta ‘Louise’ Mullens Jenks

PINEVILLE — Vesta “Louise” Mullens Jenks, a lifetime resident of Pineville, West Virginia, and most recently Wyoming Nursing and Rehabilitation, passed away peacefully on September 5th, 2013.

Louise loved traveling, gardening, and sewing. Always wearing a smile or humming a tune, she brought pleasure to young and old alike with her handmade quilts and Raggedy Ann dolls. When she wasn’t sewing or entertaining, Louise enjoyed feeling the rich West Virginia dirt between her toes while working in her garden. Among her cherished moments were her travels with her late husband James Jenks who has awaited her arrival in heaven since November 2006. Others receiving her in heaven are her parents, Neal and Berdie Mullens, siblings, Ethel Browning, Ivan Mullens, Arlene Barrett, Norma Ford, and William J. Mullens.

Family rejoicing here for her new life in heaven are siblings John Mullens and Owetta Laxton, as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank all of the wonderful members of the Wyoming Nursing and Rehabilitation team and Louise’s special caregiver, Debbie Woosley. We are still trying to figure out where she hides those wings.

A celebration of Louise’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 10, 2013, in the Calfee Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Graham officiating.

Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Princeton.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, September 9, 2013, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 3701 Pender Drive, Suite 400, Fairfax, VA 22030.
