Kyle Lewis Allen Jr.

PARKERSBURG — Kyle Lewis Allen, Jr., of Parkersburg, WV, formerly of Beckley, WV, passed away on Sept. 5, 2013.

He was born Nov. 18, 1917, in Glen Jean, WV, the son of the late Kyle Lewis Allen, Sr., and Edith Walters Allen.

In 1940 he married Ruth Sunday, who preceded him in death in 2008.

His lifetime career was automobile mechanic and service manager for Ford Motor Co. and GM. He was an avid hunter and looked forward to spending time at his hunting cabin. His favorite times were with his friends at the camp swapping tales each hunting season.

He is survived by his daughter, Rose Ann Spencer; son, Kyle Lewis Allen, III; Granddaughter, Karen Boso; Great-Granddaughters, Megan and Kaitlyn Boso; brother, Ralph  Allen; good friend, Carl Gheen; Special little friend, Aubrey Schenz.

In addition to his wife Ruth, a sister Evelyn Bragg preceded him in death.

Graveside rites and committal services will be held at 12 noon Monday, Sept. 9th, 2013, at Wayside Cemetery, Wayside, WV, with Allen Hilton officiating. Burial will follow and there will be no visitation.

Kaimyn M. Anderson

MULLENS — Kaimyn Michael Anderson, 12, of Mullens, passed away Friday, Sept. 6, 2013.

Stephanie Lynn Anderson

Stephanie Lynn Anderson, age 32, of Beckley, passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2013, at the home of her mother, Rita Anderson.

Born on October 31, 1980, in Beckley, she was the daughter of Rita Adkins Anderson of Beckley and Donald Anderson of Prince, W.Va., and was the stepdaughter of Jim Pack of Beckley.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Helen and Jim Anderson and Agnes Adkins.

Stephanie was a former clerk at the Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital, and was last employed at the Outback Steakhouse in Beckley.

Stephanie loved dancing, reading books, watching movies, spending time with friends and family, and being outdoors. She will be sadly missed by neighbors and friends.

Survivors other than her parents are a brother Alex David Anderson and companion Danielle Richmond of Shady Spring. Several aunts, uncles, and cousins survive. A very special friend, Tim Forren of Piney View.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley on Sunday, September 8, 2013, at 3 p.m. with Rev. Gene Snuffer officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Beckley.

Friends may visit with the family from 1 p.m. until service time on Sunday.

Pallbearers will be family members and friends.

Joseph Nathan Brown

GAP MILLS — Joseph Nathan Brown, 66, of Gap Mills, WV, passed away Thursday, September 5, 2013, at the Greenbrier Valley Medical Center in Fairlea following a long illness.  

He was born at Covington, Va., January 13, 1947, a son of the late Howard and Mary Sorrell Brown.

Mr. Brown was a member of the Gospel Tabernacle Church at Covington, Va., where he served as an Elder. A founding member of the God’s Squad of Monroe County, WV; and a retired employee of the Allegheny Regional Hospital at Low Moor, Va.

Surviving are his wife, Ellen Mae Hue Tolliver Brown of Gap Mills, WV; 3 sons, Joe Brown, Jr., of Harrisonburg, Va., Paul Brown and wife, Jennifer, of Waldorf, Md., and Patrick Brown of Huntington, WV; a brother, Leroy Brown and wife, Renee, of Baltimore, Md., and a sister, Diane Quarles and husband, Rudolph, of Covington, Va.; 5 grandchildren also survive.   

Funeral Services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, September 9, 2013, at the Gospel Tabernacle Church in Covington, Va., with Elder Randall Jackson, Pastor Mark Sweeney and Pastor Leonard Luker officiating. Burial will be at the Dicks Hill Cemetery at Gap Mills, WV.  

Friends may call at the Gospel Tabernacle Church from 11 a.m. until service time September 9, 2013.

ATHENS — Linda Elaine Pettrey Coburn, 63, of Athens, passed away Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013.

Ronnie R. Dean

HILLSBORO — Ronnie R. Dean, 65, of Hillsboro died Sept. 5, 2013.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9, at VanReenen Funeral Home, Marlinton. Friends may call two hours prior to service at the funeral home.

 

Wayne Dell Facello

Wayne Dell Facello passed away September 6, 2013, at Bowers Hospice House, Beckley, WV.

Born October 21, 1943, at Maple Fork; he was the son of the late James and Goldie Lovelace Facello.

A 1961 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, he served his country proudly in the U.S. Army, attaining the rank of Sergeant with one year tour of duty in Germany. He worked for Bethlehem Steel in Baltimore, MD, for 10 years. He returned to West Virginia where he was employed by Consolidated Coal Company and WV Department of Transportation as a heavy equipment operator.

He courageously fought many illnesses since his disability retirement in 1993 and underwent a heart transplant at Duke University in 2002.

Wayne was a member of the Calloway Heights Baptist Church, Beckley, where he served as usher and formerly a member and Deacon of New Prospect Baptist Church, Sweeneysburg.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Ernest, Henry, Ron, Bob, and Kenny Facello.

He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Daphnia Jean Holliday Facello, and two sons, Dr. David Wayne Facello of Charleston and James Shandra Hutchison and wife, Kedron, of Beckley, and their daughter, Keira. Also surviving are his mother-in-law, Dorothy Holliday of Fayetteville; four brothers, Frank (Jr.) of Maple Fork and Charles, Johnny, and Roger Facello of Baltimore, MD; two sisters, Phyllis Jean Kinder of Norfolk, VA, and Jo Ann Mira of Oak Hill.

Services to celebrate the life of Wayne Dell Facello will be held 1 p.m. Monday, September 9, 2013, at the Calloway Heights Baptist Church, Beckley, with Pastor Bill Parker officiating. Following the services, Wayne will be laid to rest at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.

Friends may gather with the family from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday, September 8, 2013, at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley.

WYOMING — Norma Jean Hall, 64, of Wyoming, died Friday, Sept. 6, 2013.

Vesta ‘Louise’ Mullens Jenks

PINEVILLE — Vesta “Louise” Mullens Jenks, a lifetime resident of Pineville, West Virginia, and most recently Wyoming Nursing and Rehabilitation, passed away peacefully on September 5th, 2013.

Louise loved traveling, gardening, and sewing. Always wearing a smile or humming a tune, she brought pleasure to young and old alike with her handmade quilts and Raggedy Ann dolls. When she wasn’t sewing or entertaining, Louise enjoyed feeling the rich West Virginia dirt between her toes while working in her garden. Among her cherished moments were her travels with her late husband James Jenks who has awaited her arrival in heaven since November 2006. Others receiving her in heaven are her parents, Neal and Berdie Mullens, siblings, Ethel Browning, Ivan Mullens, Arlene Barrett, Norma Ford, and William J. Mullens.

Family rejoicing here for her new life in heaven are siblings John Mullens and Owetta Laxton, as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank all of the wonderful members of the Wyoming Nursing and Rehabilitation team and Louise’s special caregiver, Debbie Woosley. We are still trying to figure out where she hides those wings.

A celebration of Louise’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 10, 2013, in the Calfee Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Graham officiating.

Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Princeton.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, September 9, 2013, at the funeral home.

FAYETTEVILLE — Thomas Eberly “Tommy” Myles, 90, of Fayetteville passed away Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Sept. 9 in the courtroom of the Fayette County Courthouse in Fayetteville. Burial of cremains will be private at Huse Memorial Park, Fayetteville.

Joseph Pilkington Jr.

Joseph Pilkington Jr., 81, of White Oak, W.Va., passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2013, at his home.

Born on September 21, 1931, in Beckley, he was the son of the late Joseph Pilkington and Alma Hopkins Pilkington.

Mr. Pilkington was the retired owner and operator of Pilkington Garbage Disposal. Before he began his own business he was a former employee of Greenbrier Dairy, Sunbeam Bakery and Beckley Water Company. He was a resident of White Oak for most of his adult life. He enjoyed his work and in his spare time Mr. Pilkington loved to hunt.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Ruth “Sally” Pilkington.

Survivors include his former wife, Jo Ann Pilkington Starr of Daniels; five children, Jo Ellen Murdock and her husband Phillip of White Oak, Jon Pilkington and his companion Vicki Strausbaugh of Craigsville, Va., Mary Ann Copeland and her husband Calvin of Cool Ridge, Karen Thompson and her husband Bryan of Cool Ridge and Andrea Sipes and her husband Johnny of White Oak; 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home Shady Spring Chapel on Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Brian Bird officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Beckley.

Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home from 6 to 9 p.m. on Saturday.

Pallbearers will be grandsons.

Robert ‘Mook’ Runion

BUD — Robert Avery “Mook” Runion, 85, of Bud, passed away on Friday, September 6, 2013, at CAMC General Division, Charleston, following a sudden illness.

Born January 20, 1928, at Goodwill, he was the son of the late William McKinley and Dorcas (Church) Runion.

Known to most people as “Mook,” he was a proud 45-year retiree of Appalachian Power Company and was the last surviving member of the original Mullens Crew. He was a 65-year faithful member of the Bud Baptist Church, where over the years he served as a trustee, usher and deacon and had served as treasurer for 32 years.

In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Mable Rose Runion, in July 2012 and by his brother, William “Bill” Runion, Jr.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter and son-in-law, Jeanne and Johnny Worley of Mullens, and his son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Kim Runion of Mullens; two granddaughters, Tara Runion King and her husband, Matthew, of St. Pauls, NC, and Allyson Runion Coleman and her husband, Randy, of China Grove, NC, and a stepgrandson, John Michael Thornsbury of Hanover; four great-grandchildren, Claire King and Wyatt, Olivia, and Luke Coleman; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Runion of Beckley; a brother-in-law, Carmel Hill and his wife, Beulah, of Pineville; and a special cousin, Opal White of Topsail, NC, formerly of Bud.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, September 9, 2013, at the Bud Baptist Church with Pastor Tom Lusk officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Princeton.

The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Tankersley Funeral Home, Mullens, and one hour prior to services Monday at the church.

Pallbearers will be Larry “Cotton” Shrewsbury, Steve Clark, Byron Stump, Billy Wayne Bailey, Jr., Mike Sandy, Lee Ross and Kyle Sandy.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Martin, Ken Sigmon, Rick Mitchell, Jack Carter and a special friend, Jon McKinney.
