Sandra Jo Bailey

On Sunday, Sept. 1st, 2013, our most cherished, Sandra Jo Bailey of Crane Street, Beckley, passed away at the Raleigh General Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 57 years of age.

Born on Nov. 4th, 1955, at Oak Hill, Sandra was the precious daughter of Josephine Crawford Workman of Lansing and the late Robert Workman. In addition to her father, her nephew, David Workman has preceded Sandra in death.

At the age of 19, Sandra trained to be a licensed practical nurse. She was employed at the Beckley Veterans Area Medical Center for 36 years working on the 4th and 6th floors.  In her leisure time, Sandra enjoyed taking care of her family, being outdoors, woodworking and especially spending time with her grandson.

In addition to her mother, Sandra leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband, James Bailey Jr.; she is the beloved mother of Angela Daly and her husband, Dustin of Evansville, Ind. and Amanda Bailey of Beckley; James’ daughter, Jamie Lee Bailey of Beckley also survives; she was the doting grandmother of Caden Gainer; the fond sister of Karen Black and her husband, Mike of Beckley and John “Bobby” Workman and his wife, Donna of Lansing; a host of extended family and friends will miss Sandra as well.

On Friday, September 6th, at 1 p.m.  there will be a “Service of Remembrance” for Sandra at the Melton Mortuary Chapel. Pastor, Paul Zutaut will be officiating. Sandra will be laid to rest in the St. Sebastian Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the service hour.

Stephen Glen Bailey

PETERSTOWN — Stephen Glen Bailey, 23 of Peterstown, formerly of Glen Fork, passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2013.

A celebration of Glen’s life will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, September 7, 2013 at the Glen Fork Church of God with the Rev. Darrell Stapleton and Rev. Cecil Thompson officiating.

The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. until the time of the service.
