CLARKSBURG — Albert McNeill “Mac” Brake, 94, of Clarksburg Veterans Nursing Facility, a native of Auburn, W.Va., passed away Nov. 1, 2013.

Gene Marguerite Fitzwater
VICTOR — Gene Marguerite Fitzwater, 91, of Victor, with family by her bedside, slipped quietly away from the Bowers Hospice House to Heaven on Tuesday, October 29, 2013. She had been a resident of the Summit Assisted Living for seven years.
Gene was born at Graydon, W.Va., the place she always affectionately called “out home.” She was the last surviving member of her immediate family which included her parents, George Jackson and Annie Heald Clendenin; brothers George, Charles, Lorrie; sisters Edith McKown, Violet Moses, Kathleen Nickell, Maxine Barker and an infant sister.
She was also preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Carl C. Fitzwater, who fell in love with her at first sight as he told his family, “I don't know her name, but I just met the girl I’m going to marry.”
Gene was a member of Victor Methodist Church and Ansted High School graduating class of 1941; she was an accomplished seamstress, having worked in clothing factories during WWII. She used her artistic talent to design handmade quilts for family and friends.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter and sons-in-law, Sylvia and Ralph Parks of Victor, Harriett and Paul Nusbaum of Charleston; grandchildren, Rachel and Johnny Carte of LaVista, Carl and Brandy Parks of Hico, Nathan and Holly Parks of Nallen, Michael Nusbaum of Morgantown and Brooke Nusbaum of Boston, Mass.; great-grandchildren, Emily and Catherine Carte, Renee, Sidney, Halee, Davis and Maryn Parks; sisters-in-law, Marie Fitzwater, Audrey Fitzwater, Mary Dailey, Anna Kinslow; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Sunday, November 3, 2013, at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home Chapel in Ansted with Pastor Michael Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in Restlawn Memory Gardens in Victor.
Friends may call from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home chapel.

Edward Leon Kamensky
GREEN COUNTY, Ky. — Mr. Edward Leon Kamensky of Green County, son of the late Edward Samuel Kamensky and Mary R. Malaga Kamensky, was born on September 11, 1942, in Ameagle, Raleigh County, W.Va., and departed this life on Tuesday, October 29, 2013, at the Jewish Hospital in Louisville, Ky. He was 71 years, one month, and 18 days of age.
He was a retired self-employed Electronic Technician and was of the Catholic faith.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Connie Sue Cottrill Kamensky, having united in marriage on December 14, 1976. To this union were born a son and daughter who preceded them in death: Edward Leon Kamensky II on June 11, 1995, and Crystal Marie Kamensky on December 25, 2009.
Other survivors include two sisters and a brother-in-law: Deloris and Dexter Morton of California, and Dorothy Saul of Virginia; a brother: David Kamensky of West Virginia; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Mr. Kamensky was also preceded in death by a brother, Theodore Voroyka.
The funeral services for Mr. Edward Leon Kamensky will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, November 4, 2013, at the St. Francis DeSales Catholic Church in Beckley. Father Sam Sacus will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens with military graveside honors.
Visitation was requested from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, October 31, 2013, at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home in Greensburg, Ky. Visitation will continue from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, November 3, 2013, in the Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Home with a Rosary service at 8 p.m.

Gary Ray ‘Sap’ Mills
Gary Ray “Sap” Mills, 63, of Coal City, passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 2013, at his home.
Born on January 10, 1950, in Jonben, he was the son of the late Shirley G. Mills and Leona Mae Mills.
Gary was a former coal miner and construction worker for Central Atlantic and Eaton Construction.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving two tours of duty back-to-back during the Vietnam Conflict. Gary was a Staff Sgt. In the 492nd. Replacement Detachment, and also in a medical outfit in the Beckley Active Reserves for eight years.
He was also a lifetime member of the VFW Post 4326 in Midway.
Surviving are his sisters, Barbara Benedict and her husband Mike of Louisville, Ky., Patricia Adkins and her husband Eldon of Pilot Mountain, N.C., Dianell Pack and her husband Ronald of Coal City and Gloria Mills of Columbus, Ohio. His brothers, William Mills and his wife Revonda of Pilot Mountain, N.C., and Dewayne Mills of Coal City. His companion, Eleanor Jones of Coal City, and her daughter Deanna McKinney and her husband Johnny of Beckley. His “granddaughter” Brandi Bragg and her husband Todd, a “grandson” Nicholas McKinney; two great-grandchildren, Addyson “Maymay” and Christian “Manman.” A special friend and uncle, Buddy Sexton of Jonben. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley on Sunday, Nov. 3, 2013, at 2 p.m. with Pastor Lowell Black officiating. Burial will follow at the Thompson Cemetery at Coal City. Friends may visit with the family from noon until service time of Sunday.
Pallbearers will be Dickie Pack, Ronnie Pack, Randy Lilly, Bob McBride, Timmy McBride and Johnny McKinney. Nicholas McKinney will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

Carol Ann Roach Montgomery
GRASSY MEADOWS — Carol Ann Roach Montgomery, 68, of Grassy Meadows, left this world to spend eternity with her Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, October 31, 2013.
Born May 15, 1945, in Meadow Bridge, she was the daughter of the late Hensley and Alpha Patton Roach.
Carol was a homemaker and a member of the Elton Community Church where she enjoyed playing the piano. She enjoyed working auctions and spending time with family and friends, especially keeping up with her husband of 25 years, Robert. Carol was a loving and fun wife, mother and grandmother who lived to spend time with her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother Chester L. Roach; a sister Sandra K. Roach; and a special nephew, Kevin Roach; and her grandparents Bob Roach and Kenzie and Stella Patton.
Survivors include her beloved husband Robert Gray Montgomery; three sons Douglas Michael Church and wife Tammy of Grassy Meadows, Jason Lee Church of Loops Road and Leslie E. Church and companion, Rachel, of Sam Black; two stepsons Terry Montgomery and wife Maudee of Grassy Meadows and Tracy Montgomery and wife Misti of Athens, Ohio; stepdaughter Tina Montgomery of Grassy Meadows; one sister Norma Patterson and husband Lawrence of Waynesville, Ohio; one sister-in-law Brenda Rice Roach of Meadow Bridge; 16 grandchildren Jamie Fleshman, Megan Cline, Autumn Neely, Chandra Church, Davey Church, Ryan Church, Lauren Montgomery, Makayla Church, Amanda Church, Braydon Montgomery, Amber Whitt, Brody Montgomery, Jacob Whitt, Jada Church, Sierra Withers, and Nick Mospan; and three great-grandchildren Kendal Grimmett, Austin and Konner Fleshman.
Services will be 3 p.m. Sunday, November 3, in the Elton Community Church with Pastor Roger Thornton Jr. and Pastor Clay O’Dell officiating. Burial will follow in the Lewis Family Cemetery at Grassy Meadows.
