Leroy Edgar Wickline
UNION — Leroy Edgar Wickline, 73, of Union, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, October 16, 2013, at his home following a long and courageous battle with cancer.
He was born at Sarton, W.Va., February 6, 1940, a son of Lillian Pence Wickline Hill of Union and the late Willie Owen Wickline.
In addition to his father he was preceded in death his stepfather, Dwight Hill, a baby sister and a brother, Fletcher Hill.
Leroy was a strong Christian man, a devoted loving husband, father, and grandfather. A member of the Mt. Alexander United Methodist Church at Sarton where he was a Church Superintendent and Men’s Sunday School teacher for 40 years, he served in the U.S. Navy for four years, 1958-1962, a member and Past Master of Monroe Lodge # 77 Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of Union, a retired employee of the West Virginia Department of Highways and former employee of Wilson Farm Equipment at Union.
Surviving in addition to his mother are his loving wife of 52 years, Sue Dickson Wickline of Union; four children, James D. Wickline and wife, Linda, of North Augusta, S.C., Susan Weikle and husband, Wayne, of Union, Brian K. Wickline and wife, Beth, of Vinton, Va., Anita McClure and husband, Michael, of Elkridge, Md.; a brother, Richard Wickline and wife, Helen, of Levitte, Ohio; two sisters, Violet Maxine Bryant of Belvedere, S.C., Phyllis Wickline of Union; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, October 19, 2013, at the Groves Funeral Home Chapel in Union, with Rev. Terry Utterback officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt. Alexander Cemetery at Sarton.
