Larry Clark Arbogast Jr.

OCEANA — Larry Clark Arbogast Jr., 30, of Oceana, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 24, 2013.

He was born November 6, 1982, in Glen Dale, W.Va., the son of Larry Clark Arbogast Sr. of Bluff City, Tenn., and Tammy Marie Bogart Bailey of Lynco, W.Va.

Larry was a member of the Oceana Volunteer Fire Department and an EMT with Jan Care and STAT Ambulance services.

Survivors include his loving wife of five years Kristy Marie Blankenship Arbogast of Oceana; two children Caleb Allen and Madison Brooke Arbogast of the home; stepfather Gary Lee Bailey of Lynco; stepmother Delores Ann Arbogast of Bluff City, Tenn.; a sister Nicole (Joshua) Lester of Norfolk, Va.; a sister-in-law Pamela (Carl) Honaker of Clear Fork; two stepsisters Holly (Steven) Trent of Alderson and Farrah (Mark) Doolittle of Melbourne, Fla.; brother-in-law Scotty (Erica) Blankenship of Clear Fork; stepbrother Brandon Bailey of Shady Spring; grandmothers Hattie Arbogast of Elkins and Lettie Hodge of N.C.; nieces and nephews Cloe and Kinlee Lester, Jacob “Jake,” Hannah, Aibgal and Lauren Blankenship, Kameron Sanders, Conner Dillon, Kahne and Charlie Trent, Kholton Bailey, Belle Dickens, Breedon and Braydon Doolittle; several aunts and uncles and a host of other loving family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, September 29, 2013, at the Lillyhaven Baptist Church with Rev. Kenny Bogart officiating. He will be laid to rest in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny, W.Va.

Friends may gather with the family from 6 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, September 27, 2013, at the church.

Pallbearers will be Nicole and Joshua Lester, Fire Department and EMS members.

John Kevin Carte

CAMDEN-ON-GAULEY — John Kevin Carte, 38, of Camden-on-Gauley died Thursday,  Sept. 26, 2013.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30, in the Walnut Grove Cemetery at Strange Creek with Pastor Linn Schiefer officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the family would be appreciated.

The Waters Funeral Chapel in Summersville is in charge of arrangements.

Charles Lemon Dorsey

NETTIE — Charles Lemon Dorsey, 83, of Nettie (formerly of Quinwood) went to rest in Heaven on Thursday evening, September 26, 2013, at CAMC (Memorial) at Charleston, W.Va., following a short illness.

Born May 6, 1930, at Marfrance, W.Va., he was the son of the late Marshall H. and Georgia Ann Humphrey Dorsey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by twin sisters.

Charles was a retired coal miner, who loved WVU football, and was an avid fan. He loved to hunt and fish, and was of the Baptist faith.

The family wishes to send “Special Thanks” to the physicians and staff at Fairview Health Associates in Summersville and also to Dr. Ni Gorsuch and staff at the David Lee Cancer Center of Charleston.

Survived by his loving wife of nearly 60 years: Josephine “Jody” Feron Yearego Dorsey of Nettie; two daughters: Cheryl Amick (Rick) of Nettie and Carla Neil (Joe) of Summersville, W.Va.; three sisters: Margie Lane of Orient Hill, W.Va., Margarette Darby of Charmco, W.Va., and Betty Wickline of Clintonville, W.Va.; sister-in-law, Trecie Alloway of Pasadena, Md., and brother-in-law, James McCoy of St. Albans, and his faithful and loyal companion, Coco; several nieces and nephews, and other extended family.

Services will be 1 p.m. on Sunday, September 29, 2013, at Wallace & Wallace Chapel in Rainelle, with Dr. John Stephen Shanks conducting the service. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Nettie. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service at the funeral home (noon to 1 p.m.).

Robert ‘Bob’ Fann Sr.

Robert “Bob” Fann Sr., 82, of Amigo, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 25, 2013.

Born April 20, 1931, at Covel, W.Va., he was a son of the late Stokley and Beulah Hylton Fann.

Bob loved playing and listening to Bluegrass music; he was a beekeeper, working on antique cars, gardening, and rebuilding old buildings with his brother.

He was of the Baptist faith and a member of the Amigo Missionary Baptist Church; he was a retired Police Officer with the Metropolitan DC Police Force. Once moving back to W.Va., he was a Rural Mail Carrier.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Alma Louise Fann and Margaret Johnson, and a brother, Ernest “Pete” Fann.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 55 years, Norma Blankenship Fann; a daughter, Deborah “Debbie” Young and husband, Detzel “Dee,” of Soak Creek; a son, Robert E. “Robbie” Fann Jr. and companion, Patricia “Pat” Cox of Rhodell; a grandson, Jordan Andrew Young, who is attending college in Glenville, W.Va.; a brother, David A. “Dave” Fann and wife, Donna, of Amigo; several nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends.

Services to celebrate the life of Robert “Bob” Fann Sr. will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, September 29, 2013, at Williams-Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Sophia, with Pastors Curtis England and Gilbert “Junior” Dotson officiating. Following the services Bob will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley. Family and friends will be serving as pallbearers.

Friends may gather with the family 1 p.m. until time of the service Sunday at the funeral home.

Larry Keith Francisco Sr.

Larry Keith Francisco Sr., 74, of Beckley, passed away Thursday, September 26, 2013, at Thomas Memorial Hospital in Charleston following a sudden illness.

Born May 24, 1939, in Beckley, to the late Edward Francisco and Orpha Williams Francisco.

Larry enjoyed fishing and was also of the Christian faith.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Francisco, and a brother Paul Francisco.

Survivors include his sons, Larry Francisco Jr. (Debbie) of Ohio, Frazier Zappoli (Tammy) of Houston, Texas; daughters, Tammy McGuffin (Glenn) of Shady Spring, April Smith (Tim) of Beckley; brother, David Francisco (Jenny) of Union, W.Va.; companion, Joyce Gregg, and family of Beckley; also five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 29, 2013, at the Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Chapel in Beckley with Pastor Rick Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Wildwood Cemetery, Beckley.

Evening of visitation will take place at the Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home on Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m.

James L. Greer Jr. “Tim,” 70, a native of Beckley, passed away Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013.

Visitation was from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, at Nassau Funeral Home. Funeral service began at 1 p.m. with burial following In Jacksonville National Cemetery.

OAK HILL — Connie Sue Johnson Mealhouse, 66, of Oak Hill, died Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013.

NEWPORT, Tenn. — Leon Wiley Sneed, 74, of Newport, formerly of Rhodell, passed away Friday, Sept. 27, 2013.

Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29, at Manes Funeral Home West Chapel, Newport, with the Rev. James Hance and the Rev. Stephen Sneed officiating. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 30, in the Point Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home chapel prior to funeral service.
