Mildred Smith Thomas

PETERSTOWN — Mildred Smith Thomas, 77, of Green Valley Road, Peterstown, passed away Friday, Dec. 6, 2013. 

Arrangements are incomplete at Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, Peterstown.

Roxanne Delores Toney

Roxanne Delores Toney, 56, of Beckley, passed away December 4, 2013, at Hospice of Beckley, surrounded by her family and friends.

Roxanne was loved by many including her four daughters, Joy Goodwin, Carey Metz-Wood, Angela Toney and Cassandra Toney. She had three grandsons, Conner, Brayden and Ricky, who loved their grandma very much. She had four siblings, Valerie Evans, Lisa Zotos, Lora Keaveny, and Jimmy Habib. Including Melanie Lilly who loved her like a sister and her stepfather, Edward Habib.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Carol Habib; her grandmother, Garnet Evans, and granddad, Charles Evans; and also her best friend, Debbie Metz.

A Memorial Service to celebrate the life of Roxanne Delores Toney will be held 2 p.m. Monday, December 9, 2013, at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley, with Father Carlos Melocoton officiating.

Friends may gather with the family from 1 p.m. until time of the service Monday at the funeral home.

Carrie Elizabeth Williams

LEWISBURG — Carrie Elizabeth Williams, 91, of Lewisburg, passed away Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013.

In honor of what would have been her 92nd birthday, a gathering of friends will be 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2013, at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home, Lewisburg. A private interment will be at Trails End Cemetery, Clintonville.

Flowers will be accepted for the visitation; however, the family graciously declines food or flowers being accepted at the home due to relocating.

Munir Samuel Yarid

LEWISBURG — Munir Samuel Yarid, 89, of Lewisburg, died at his home on Tuesday, December 3, 2013, at the conclusion of a long illness.

Born May 12, 1924, in Lewisburg, he was the son of the late Sam and Dora Hannah Yarid.

Munir was a graduate of Lewisburg High School and West Virginia University. He served as a pilot of a B-25 in the 5th Air Force during the Pacific Campaign of World War II. He enjoyed flying throughout much of his life and was a charter member of the Ronceverte Flying Club. He was a Mason, a member of the Lewisburg Rotary Club and a Paul Harris Fellow.

Following in his parents’ footsteps, he was co-owner of Yarid’s Stores in Lewisburg and at The Greenbrier hotel.

A lifelong member of the Old Stone Presbyterian Church, Munir served as a Deacon and as a Ruling Elder. In 2010, in recognition of his lifelong service, he was elected as an Elder Emeritus.

Munir is survived by: his wife of 47 years, Yvette Prevost Yarid; his brother, Eddie, and sister-in-law, Joan; nieces Dora, Catherine, and Emily; and numerous friends.

A Memorial Service, celebrating Munir’s life, will be held at the Old Stone Presbyterian Church on Thursday, December 12, 2013, at 11 a.m. A luncheon will be held in the Fellowship Hall of the Church immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Old Stone Presbyterian Church, 200 Church Street, Lewisburg, WV 24901, or Carnegie Hall, 105 Church Street, Lewisburg, WV 24901.
