Ethel Mae Ratliff

QUINWOOD — Ethel Mae Ratliff, 81, of Quinwood, went to be with the Lord on December 3, 2013, where she is reunited with her mother (Hennie) and her daughter (Ardigaye). Her final days were spent surrounded by her loving husband and her children.

Born September 14, 1932, in Camden, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Hennie Bonner.

She is survived by her husband Hobert Lee Ratliff; three brothers, Ed Bonner of Gadsden, AL, Fred (Willie) Bonner of Victorsville, CA, Bob Bonner of Leslie, WV; five daughters, Ethelene Penn (Don) of Alderson, Linda Faye Ratliff of Quinwood, Davene Burks (Richard) of Morgantown, Darlene Ratliff Washington (Keith) of Irwin, PA, and Donna Ratliff-Walker (Fred) of Durham, NC; three sons, Walter Lee Ratliff (Jennifer) of Albany, GA, Danny Ratliff of Leslie and Rex Ratliff (Sarah) of Bluefield, WV; ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She spent her early years serving as homemaker to her husband and their nine children. She went on to acquire an Associate Degree and serve more than 20 years as a Restorative Assistant to the physical therapist at Heartland of Rainelle. She loved her family, crocheting and flowers. She will be sorely missed.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 7, 2013, at the Wallace & Wallace Chapel in Rainelle with Pastor Chad Rodes and Rev. Ronald L. Sherrod officiating. Burial will follow at the Trail’s End Cemetery in Clintonville.

Friends may call one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. There will be no evening visitation.

THOMASVILLE, N.C. — Harry Smith of Thomasville, formerly of Beckley, died Friday, Dec. 6, 2013.

Arrangements are pending completion at Rose and Quesenberry, 1901 S. Kanawha St., Beckley.
