James Lawrence Holesapple
SECOND CREEK — James Lawrence Holesapple, 89, of Second Creek passed away Friday, March 14, 2014, at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center.
Mr. Holesapple was born May 10, 1924, at Carpenter’s Run in Monroe County to the late Jesse Lawrence and Etta Foster Holesapple.
Besides his parents Mr. Holesapple was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine Lucas Holesapple; sisters, Ida Holesapple and Susie Bedford; brothers, Bill and Fred Holesapple.
Mr. Holesapple was a retired heavy equipment operator.
Survivors include sons, William Lee “Buddy” Holesapple and wife Barbara of Sinks Grove, James Russell Holesapple and wife Diana of Second Creek; grandchildren, Jesse and Hailey Holesapple; stepgrandchildren, Todd and Michele Belcher.
A graveside service will be 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at the Highland Park Cemetery with Pastor Ed Vallandingham and Pastor Don Trent officiating.
The family will receive friends Monday, March 17, 2014, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Ronceverte.
Pallbearers will be Barry Thomas, Joe Reed, Don Trent, Jimmy Ward, Charlie Lucas and Clayton Reed.

PEARISBURG, Va. — Verda Magalene Knight, 90, of Pearisburg, Va., formerly of Rock Camp, passed away Friday, March 14, 2014.

Donald Ray Lemon
TRUE — Donald Ray Lemon, 63, of True went home to be with the Lord, Friday, March 14, 2014, at the Summers Co. Appalachian Regional Hospital following a sudden illness.
Born May 11, 1950, in Hinton, he was a son of the late Howard W. and Ruth Thompson Lemon.
Donnie attended the James Chapel United Methodist Church, a former equipment operator in the maintenance division for Pipestem State Park and a member of the WV Farm Bureau. He enjoyed farming, tending to his cattle and his beloved pets, and spending time with his grandson and family.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 21 years, Marilyn Albert Lemon.
Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Howard Lemon and wife Tori; one grandson, Thomas Lemon; Close friend and brother-in-law, Ricky Albert; sister-in-law, Patricia Meadows and husband Buck all of True; two nieces, Kasi Meadows and Shannon Meadows-Gill; three great-nephews; one great-niece and many special cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Rev. David Damewood, Pastors Robbie Merritt and Johnny Wills officiating. Burial will follow in the Wynn-Houchins Cemetery at True. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral parlors. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. William Kyle ‘Billy’ Owens
William Kyle “Billy” Owens, age 62, of Sophia, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 13, 2014, at the Bowers Hospice House in Beckley with his family by his side. Romans 8:28 “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose.”
Born on May 28, 1951, in Welch, W.Va., he was the son of the late Joseph Ben Owens and Clara Alberty Owens. Though born in Welch, he spent most of his childhood in Stotesbury and attended Mark Twain High School.
He was a coal miner, and a member of the UMWA, local district #17. He was disabled in 2007.
Billy enjoyed fishing on his boat with family and friends, watching westerns, racing, and his beloved “West Virginia Mountaineers.” Recently he became a member of the Truth Assembly Ministries. He was very proud that he gave his life to the Lord. The family wishes to thank each and every one of you for your thoughts and prayers.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Clara Owens, and by two brothers, Franklin and Jimmie Owens.
On December 22, 1972, he married Brenda Rutherford Owens, and they just celebrated their 42nd anniversary. They have three children, Donna Owens and her companion Aaron Asbury of Sophia, Michelle Owens and her companion Darrell Cantley of Pulaski, Tenn., and Kevin Owens and his companion Lorrie Ayers of Sophia. Billy also has three granddaughters, Brianna Wilson of Lake Park, Ga., Samantha Robertson of Sophia, and Savannah Lilly of Pulaski, Tenn.; two grandsons, Justin Reed of Pulaski, Va., and Travis K. Owens of Pulaski, Tenn.; and one great-grandson, Bryson Reed of Pulaski, Va.
He is survived by one brother, Joseph Owens and his wife Sharon of Coal City; four sisters, Janell Meadows of Columbus, Ga., Juanita Lilly and her husband Pete of Landover, Md., Trula Burgess and her companion Dennis Adkins of Beckley, and Susie Owens and her companion Mike Wyco of Beaver. Billy had many nieces and nephews, and one who was close to his heart, Jenny Lynn Owens Welch and her husband Terry of Mabscott.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley on Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at 8 p.m., with Rev. Hibbard Hatfield officiating.
Friends may visit with the family from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Darrell Cantley, Aaron Asbury, Dennis Adkins, Gene Perkins, Kevin Owens. Honorary pallbearers will be Travis Owens and Justin Reed.
Private entombment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Mausoleum at Prosperity, W.Va., on Thursday morning.

Michael Eugene Parsons
CRAIGSVILLE — Michael Eugene Parsons, 68, of Craigsville, WV, went home to be with the Lord on March 14, 2014, in Veterans Hospital, Beckley, WV.
He was born on July 1, 1945, to the late Woodrow and Sylvia Arbaguast Parsons at Dixie, WV.
He was caring, kind, always willing to help, quite turned man, didn’t want for material things and wouldn’t ask for help for himself.
He had many, many friends.
He loved nature.
He was preceded in death by Parents Woodrow and Sylvia Parsons, Sister Carol Naomi Plummer, Brother Jackie Wayne Parsons and Half Sister Laura Pam Meadows.
Survivors: 2 Sisters, June Hinkle, Craigsville, WV, and Betty Legg, Oak Hill, WV. Several Nephews and Nieces.
Services will be Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at 12 noon in Simons-Coleman Funeral Home, Richwood, WV.
Friends may call Tuesday, March 18, 2014, from 11 a.m. till service time here at the Funeral Home.

NITRO — Michael Kenneth Petties, 36, of Nitro, W.Va., passed away Monday, March 10, 2014, after a long illness.
The Memorial Service for Michael Kenneth Petties, who passed away at home in South Charleston, WV, on March 10, 2014, will be held at Durgan Funeral Home, Inc., in Beckley, WV, at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, March 18th.
Michael, an adult with Cerebral Palsy, was cared for in the family home his entire life. He will be truly missed by his father, Kenneth Petties of Nitro; sister, Michelle Petties of St. Albans; Grandmother, Corintha Hawkins of South Charleston; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members.

Danny Ray Snuffer Sr.
Danny Ray Snuffer Sr., age 65, of Beckley, passed away after a long illness to be with the Lord on February 10, 2014, at CAMC Memorial Hospital.
Danny was born August 21, 1948, in Beckley, son of Hazel G. Snuffer and Herbert Edward Snuffer.
He was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School in 1966 and a 1971 graduate of Morris Harvey College, in Charleston. He was a Board of Director of Wesco Homes, Inc., in Beckley. He also worked from 1968-1977 for American Electric Power Company. In addition, he was employed with Capitol Fuels, Inc., from 1977-1984 in Charleston. He retired with 14 years of service in Charleston with Peabody Holding Company in 1996. He was an Eagle Scout, and was affiliated with the Boy Scouts of America for over 30 years. He was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. He was an avid horseman and was involved with the Raleigh County Horseman’s Association, West Virginia Horseman’s Association and the Tennessee walking horse Breeders Association from 1956 to 1972.
Danny is survived by his beloved wife Linda K. Myers Price Snuffer, married on September 13, 1993; one son, Danny Ray Snuffer Jr. of Charleston; Linda’s children from her first marriage, whom he considered his own, Christian J. Price and Charles N. Price, both of Palm Springs, Calif., Claude E. Price of Quarter Lane, Idaho, and Philippe T. Price of Florida; one brother, William Edward Snuffer of Beckley; three nephews, William E. Snuffer of Columbus, Ohio, Richard Ray Snuffer of Beaver, Eric Lyle Snuffer of Fayetteville.
The family suggests donations be given to the American Heart Association in lieu of flowers.

FORT MYERS, Fla. — Ruth Williams, 83, born December 3, 1930, in Beckley, died March 10, 2014, in Ft. Myers, Fla.
The darling wife of Jack Williams (deceased), she is survived by her six children: Barbara (Tom), Linda (Steve), Mike (Rita), Jack (Leslie), Eddie (Karen) and Melissa (David). She has 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Ruth recently lived at Barkley Place in Ft. Myers, previously at Jamaica Bay in Ft. Myers and in Tice, Fla.
Ruth was buried in Bougainvillea Cemetery in Avon Park, Fla.
