James Lawrence Holesapple

SECOND CREEK — James Lawrence Holesapple, 89, of Second Creek passed away Friday, March 14, 2014, at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center.

Mr. Holesapple was born May 10, 1924, at Carpenter’s Run in Monroe County to the late Jesse Lawrence and Etta Foster Holesapple.

Besides his parents Mr. Holesapple was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine Lucas Holesapple; sisters, Ida Holesapple and Susie Bedford; brothers, Bill and Fred Holesapple.

Mr. Holesapple was a retired heavy equipment operator.

Survivors include sons, William Lee “Buddy” Holesapple and wife Barbara of Sinks Grove, James Russell Holesapple and wife Diana of Second Creek; grandchildren, Jesse and Hailey Holesapple; stepgrandchildren, Todd and Michele Belcher.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at the Highland Park Cemetery with Pastor Ed Vallandingham and Pastor Don Trent officiating.

The family will receive friends Monday, March 17, 2014, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Ronceverte.

Pallbearers will be Barry Thomas, Joe Reed, Don Trent, Jimmy Ward, Charlie Lucas and Clayton Reed.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Highland Park Cemetery Fund, c/o Bobby Carter, RR 2 Box 55B, Second Creek, WV 24974-9723.

Verda Magalene Knight

PEARISBURG, Va. — Verda Magalene Knight, 90, of Pearisburg, Va., formerly of Rock Camp, passed away Friday, March 14, 2014.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel, Peterstown, with Pastor Gary Poff and Pastor Jim Pierson officiating. Burial will follow in the Swope Cemetery, Lindside. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 17, at the funeral home.
