Sarah H. Workman Gillespie

Sarah H. Workman Gillespie, 84, of Beckley, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 11, 2014.

Born on October 26, 1929, in McDowell County, she was preceded in death by her loving parents, Nancy Ann Rose and James W. Lester.

She was retired from Hills Department Store and attended Emmanuel Baptist Church. She enjoyed visiting and talking with family and friends, shopping, cooking, and gardening. 

She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Auther L. Workman, her second husband, Jess Gillespie, a daughter, Merry E. Redden, a granddaughter, Brandi Lynn McKay, and several brothers and sisters.

Those left to cherish her memory include a grandson, Stephen L. Workman and wife, Tammy, of Backus Mountain, a granddaughter, Sarah R. Richmond of Beckley, and three great-grandsons, Corey L. Workman, Brandon M. Vaught and Jennings (J.W.) Richmond, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley on Sunday, March 16, 2014, at 1 p.m., with Rev. Doug Walls officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity, W.Va.

Friends may visit with the family from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

SUMMERSVILLE — June Coldwell Griffin, 88, of Summersville, died Wednesday, March 12, 2014.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 17, in the Waters Funeral Chapel at Summersville, with Pastor Arnold Nicholas officiating. Burial will follow in the Underwood Cemetery at Twenty-Mile. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral chapel.
