Elden ‘Big O’ Orndorff
QUINWOOD — Elden “Big O” Orndorff, 91, of Quinwood, passed away Sunday morning, March 9, 2014, at his home, following a long illness.
Born October 5, 1922, at Carl, W.Va., he was the son of the late Owen and Bessie Mae McClung Orndorff.
Elden was a retired coal miner, and a member of Mountain Baptist Church of Carl, W.Va. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Audrace Mattison, and three brothers, Gilmer White, Glendon Orndorff, and Reed Orndorff.
Survivors include his wife, Emma Jane Shaffer Orndorff of Quinwood; and a son, Gregory E. Orndorff of Quinwood.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at Mountain Baptist Church of Carl, WV, with Rev. Reginald Berry officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery at Carl, WV.
Friends may visit with the family two hours prior to the service (noon to 2 p.m.) at the church on Wednesday.

Charles B. Patrick
HINTON — Charles B. Patrick, 82, of 313 Maple St., Hinton, died Sunday, March 9, 2014, of a sudden illness at the VA Medical Center in Beckley.
Born December 9, 1931, at Beech Run, W.Va., he was a son of the late Thomas and Eva Ratliff Patrick.
Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Taylor Patrick, a son, David Hutchinson, a grandson, Brandon Thomas Cobb, and a brother, Jack Patrick.
Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Charles Edward Patrick of Columbia, S.C., Jane Spangler and husband Frankie of Pipestem, Sarah Jo Patrick of Oceana and Lori Jones and husband Ron of Ocala, Fla. Grandchildren, Damon Mills and wife Amy of Morrisville, N.C., Staci Mills of Hinton, David Michael of True, Clint Walker of Washington state, Tammy Mendes and Christopher Patrick of Cape Cod, Mass., David Patrick of Washington state, Chris “Chase” Cobb and wife Stacy of Ocala, and Kari Beth Dellorso and husband Jacob of Panama City, Fla. Great-grandchildren, Tyler Mills of Roanoke, Va., Alexis, Gabriella and Amelia Mills of Morrisville, Emma and Eli Dellorso of Panama City, and Dakota and Brantley Cobb of Ocala. Two brothers, Thomas A. Patrick Jr. and wife Patty of Hinton and Richard Allen Patrick and wife Gladys of Lake Butler, Fla.; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Charles served in the United States Army for 27 years as Sgt. 1st Class. He fought in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. After retiring from the military, he was employed as a caretaker for 20 years at the National Guard Armory in Hinton. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Hinton and the Hinton Masonic Lodge.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 13, 2014, at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton, with Pastor Ron Jones and Pastor Ron Thomure officiating. Burial with military graveside rites provided by the Wyoming County DAV will follow in Restwood Memorial Gardens in Hinton. Friends may call from 6 until 9 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be; Damon Mills, Chris “Chase” Cobb, Tyler Mills, Rudy Allen, Paul Blankenship and Leonard Anderson.
