Della Jewel Duty Moran Elswick

FAYETTEVILLE — Della Jewel Duty Moran Elswick, 98, formerly of Fayetteville, had a short stay for her final days in Greeneville, Tenn., was entered into heavenly rest on Friday, March 7, 2014, at her granddaughter’s home surrounded by her loved ones.

Although this is an extremely difficult time for her family and friends, we take comfort in the beautiful times that we shared with her over the years and the knowledge that her life brought joy to so many people. She taught us that unconditional love is the most powerful gift in the world and to always keep our faith and trust in Jesus Christ.

She was a long-standing member of the Church of the Nazarene of Oak Hill, and was active as long as her health would permit it. She will be remembered for her warm smiling face, her open arm and love to everyone, and all the years of service given to her church, and her work with children.

Survivors include daughter-in-law, Joanne Moran, her granddaughter, Cynthia (Cindi) Bennington and husband, James (Jim) Bennington Jr., and great-grandsons, James-Robert (Robbie), Jeffrey and Joshua Bennington from Greeneville, Tenn. Her granddaughter, Pamela (Rouette) Bryant and husband, Skip Bryant, and granddaughter, Tammy Lynne DeVasier all of Springfield, Mass., great-granddaughter, Jennifer Thomas and husband, Ryan Thomas, and great-great-grandsons, Aiden and Brayton of Cheyenne, Wyo., and grandson, Timothy Moran of Kentucky; and a very special friend, Bertha Buis of Fayetteville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John W. Duty and Victoria (Johnson) Duty; her husbands, Wallace Charles Moran and James Robert Elswick; her son, Donald Richard Moran; and grandson, David L. Moran.

The family will receive friends at Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home in Fayetteville, on Wednesday, March 12, from 6 to 8 p.m. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, March 13, 2014, at Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home, Fayetteville, with the Rev.
