William Albert ‘Bill’ Bollenbach

CLAYTON — William Albert “Bill” Bollenbach, 81, of Clayton, formerly of Kemblesville, Pa., passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2014.

Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. Monday, March 10, at the Old Greenbrier Baptist Church, Alderson, with the Rev. Dr. Bill Bryan and the Rev. Mark Stauffer officiating. Friends may call from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday, March 10, at the church.

In lieu of flowers, for those considering an expression of sympathy, the family requests that donations be made to Summers County 4-H, Memorial Building, 96 Park Ave., Hinton, WV 25951-2450. or to the Future Farmers of America, Summers County High School, Attn: FFA, 1 Bobcat Drive, Hinton, WV 25951-2450.

David I. Bower

TROUTVILLE, Va. — David I. Bower, 81, of Troutville, Virginia, died Thursday, March 6, 2014.

He was the son of the late Orren T. and Sallie M. Bower and was also preceded in death by two brothers, Lester (Pete) Bower and Orville Bower; and a nephew, Donnie Bower.

Mr. Bower was an active member of Southview United Methodist Church since 1960 and the Crusaders Sunday School Class as well as the U.M.M. He was a Past Master of the Melrose Masonic Lodge No. 139, Catawba Masonic Lodge No. 342, and Webber High Masonic Lodge No. 282. He was a Past District Deputy Grand Master for the 22nd Masonic District and an Honorary member of Pleasants Masonic Lodge No. 63, Past High Priest of Murray Royal Arch Chapter No. 22, and Past Commander of Bayard Commandery No. 15. He was a member of the Roanoke Valley Scottish Rite Bodies, a 33rd IGH, and a member of Kazim Shrine Temple. He was a retired transportation engineer with VDOT after 36 years of service. Mr. Bower was an avid woodworker who gave away his original pieces as gifts to family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Alda M. Foster Bower; daughter and son-in-law, Loretta and J.C. Williams; daughter, Jeanetta Fisher; four grandchildren, Susan Via (David) Campbell, Sheila Fisher (Chad) Hughes, David Russell (Leanne) Fisher and Angela Williams (David) Henderlite; five great-granddaughters, Morganne Campbell, Maura and Avery Hughes, Emily and Ryleigh Fisher; five great-grandsons, William Campbell, Brayden Hughes, Russell Fisher, Martin and Matthew Henderlite; two brothers and four sisters-in-law, Cecil and Sue Bower, Darrell and Lena Bower, Mattie Bower, and Phyllis Bower Denlinger; one sister and brother-in-law, Elma Jane and John Sowers; and several nieces, nephews, family friends and neighbors. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Gentle Shepherd Hospice, especially Joanna Asselin (RN), for their care and support.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 10, 2014, at Southview United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. Masonic Rites will be held at 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 8, 2014, at Oakey’s North Chapel. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Oakey’s North Chapel and one hour prior to the service at the Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Southview United Methodist Church, 3539 Peters Creek Road, Roanoke, VA 24019, or the Gentle Shepherd Hospice, 6045 Peters Creek Road, Roanoke, VA 24019.
