James Edward ‘Junior’ Bailey

BRENTON — James Edward “Junior” Bailey, 56, passed away Thursday, March 14, 2013, after a long illness.

Born February 25, 1957, at Welch, he was the son of the late James Edward Bailey and Marion Bailey McCracken.

Mr. Bailey worked for U.S. Steel #50 mines as roof bolter for 27 years before he became disabled. He attended Bradley Freewill Baptist Church, where he was saved on Palm Sunday, 2010. His favorite pastimes were fishing and boating on R.D. Bailey Lake with his Uncle Stanley Mitchell, and listening to music.

He was preceded in death by a stepfather, James McCracken; grandparents, Charles and Hulda Cox and Elmer Bailey and Nellie Bailey Mitchell; uncles, Tommy Cox, Bobby Cox and Benny Bailey; and aunts, Betty Delphia and Donnie Graham.

Survivors include aunts, Nancy Clay and husband Carl of Beckley, Glenda Workman of Lakeland, FL, Carol Seebolt of Colorado Springs, CO, Judy Cox of Brenton, Valma McCoy of Brenton, Sharon Ritter of AZ, Patty Morgan of SC, and Nadine Browning of TX; uncles, Kenneth Cox and wife, Ruth, of Des Moines, IA, Ray Bailey of Fredericksburg, VA, Howard Bailey of Manassas, VA, and Stanley Mitchell of Indian Creek; and many cousins.

Other survivors include Johnie and Marian Osborne and their son, Matthew, of Brenton, all of whom loved Junior very much. Mr. Bailey’s family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the Osborne family for the love, care and friendship they extended to him during the past year.

A service of remembrance will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 17, 2013, at Calfee Funeral Home in Pineville. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. and continue until time of service. The Rev. Wayne Peters will officiate. Burial will follow at Shannon Cemetery, Baileysville. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
