Bill J. King

LASHMEET — Bill J. King, 77, of Lashmeet, formerly of Fayette County, died Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at his home.

Born August 3, 1935, at Jodie, W.Va., he was the son of the late John B. King and Fonda Evans King.

Mr. King was a devoted member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church at Rock. He was a U.S. Army veteran, a retired coal miner and member of U.M.W.A. He was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one son, Robin E. Moore and one brother, Jack L. King.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Norma Shelton King; one daughter, Dora Metheny and husband Jerry; one son, Denver. D. Moore; one brother, Wayne King and wife Janet; three sisters, Norma Underwood and husband Richard, Wanda Seay and husband Tom and Judy Bird and husband Larry; four grandchildren, Cathi J. Moore, Nathan Moore, Amanda Moore and Amy Metheny; one great granddaughter, Cayla Dixon; one daughter-in-law, Terry Moore and one sister-in-law, Nancy King.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m., today, Thursday, May 9, 2013, at Wesley Chapel Cemetery on Wright Mountain at Rock with Pastor L. Joe Robinette officiating. Family and friends attending the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery. For directions please call 304-673-8995.

Melvin Eugene ‘Melvie’ Lewis

LESTER — Melvin Eugene “Melvie” Lewis, 43, of Lester, passed away Monday, May 6, 2013, at Raleigh General Hospital, Beckley.

Born on Nov. 25, 1969, at Beckley, he was the son of Mildred Treadway Lewis of Lester and the late Melvin Cargyle Lewis.

Melvie loved video games, watching TV, and reading. He had attended NIT at Cross Lanes. Previously he had worked at Kroger’s, Montgomery Ward, John W. Eye and in the warehouse at Sears.

His father, Melvin C. Lewis, preceded him in death.

Left to cherish his memory include his mother, Mildred Treadway Lewis of Lester; three sisters, Joyce (Kenneth) Carpenter, Donna Coughlin, and Patricia (Frank) Mason, all of Lester; two nieces, April (Greg) Mitchem and Kymber Mason; and five nephews, Michael, Zachary, and Daniel Carpenter, Ronnie Allen, and Tyler Mason.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, May 10, 2013,  at his residence, 370 Sunburst Lane, Lester, WV 25865, with Rev. Brian McCallister officiating. Burial will follow at the Lewis Family Cemetery there at the home place.    

Friends may call at the home from noon to service time on the day of the service.
