POWELL, Ohio — Evelyn H. Mitchell Breckenridge, of Powell, Ohio, a native of Stotesbury, W.Va., passed away Sunday, May 5, 2013.

Interment will take place in Union Cemetery followed by A Celebration of Life Sevice at Friendship Baptist Church, 1775 West Broad St., Columbus, Ohio, on Saturday, May 11, 2013, with a visitation from 11 to 11:30 a.m. Service starts at 11:30 the repast will follow.

Mr. Theodore Goins, 68, of Beckley, died Tuesday, May 7, 2013.

John William ‘Johnny G’ Griffith

John William “Johnny G” Griffith, 49, of Pineville, passed away Sunday, May 5, 2013, in the Welch Community Hospital from a sudden illness.

Born June 27, 1963 at Mullens, he was the son of the late John Willard and Norma Lea Blankenship Griffith.

John was of the Pentecostal faith. He worked for STAT EMS for 16 years as chief mechanic and worked at Twin Falls State Park for 23 years. He enjoyed four-wheeling, driving his car and being with his family, including his work family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Ethen Ryan Adkins, a brother, Robert Woodrow Griffith and a sister, Delores Griffith.

Survivors include his wife, Derena Bishop Griffith of the residence; three daughters, Sabrina Sansom and her husband, Johnny II of Crany, Charity Lester and her husband, Shawn of McGraws and Savannah Christian of the residence; step-father, Ronald Sinecoff Sr. of Pineville; three brothers, Stephen Griffith and his wife, Lynn of Mill Creek, Timmy Sinecoff and his wife, Debbie of Pineville and Ronald “Poncho” Sinecoff Jr. of Pineville; five sisters, Sandra Zandlo and her husband, Victor Joe of Pineville, Elizabeth Ann Lafferty and her husband, Franklin of Pineville, Janie Fournier and her husband, Jimmy of Glen Rogers, Linda Adkins of Pineville and Christina Bailey and her husband, James of McGraws; six grandchildren, Jeremiah, Tristian, Dakota, Colten, Dillon and Lilly. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of John’s life will be held at 6 p.m., Thursday, May 9, 2013, at the Christian Fellowship Worship Center, Pineville, with the Rev. Ernest Francis officiating.

Ted ‘Dane’ Jenny Jr.

On Wednesday, May 9th, 2013, our most loved, Ted Jenny Jr. passed away at the Bowers Hospice House following a short battle with pancreatic cancer. He was in his 79th year.

Known affectionately as “Dane” all his life, Ted Jenny Jr. was born on January 31st, 1934, at Oak Grove. He was the son of the late Ted and Hattie Acord Jenny. His brother, Walter Ray Jennings has preceded him in death.

Dane has been a lifelong resident of the Oak Grove community. Dane and his family worshiped at the Oak Grove Christian Church. He has been a member for the past 54 years, where he served as deacon for the past 42. Dane worked as a heavy equipment mechanic in the mining industry, retiring from Wind River Resources. In his leisure time, he just loved being outdoors, working in his garage on his antique cars, four-wheeling and fishing.

In addition to his parents and brother, Dane was preceded in death by his first wife, Peggy Webb Jenny and an infant son, Jamey Wade Jenny.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of 41 years, Janice Hardin Jenny; he was the loving “Daddy and Dad” to his children, Debbie Adams and her husband, Steve of Epperly, Terry Lough of Beckley; sons, Michael Jenny of Florida and Philip Jenny and his wife, Victoria of North Carolina; he was the proud “Pa Papaw” of Holly Adams, Bradley Lough and his wife, Natasha, Dustin Lough, Ashley Garris and her husband Joe, Kiefer and Colby Jenny; the great grandfather of Bradley Lough III; the fond brother of Virginia “Jenny” Rice and her husband, Richard “Buddy” and Scott Jenny and his wife, Shirley.

On Friday, May 10th, at 2 p.m. we will remember the life of Dane with a “Service of Remembrance” at the Oak Grove Christian Church. Kelly Gowen will be officiating. Dane will be laid to rest in the Oak Grove Christian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from noon until the hour of the service.

The honor of carrying Dane has been given to Bradley Lough, Dustin Lough, Joseph Garris, Brandon Deboard, Richard Rice Jr., and Randy Jennings.

The family suggests donations of sympathy can be given to the Bowers Hospice House, PO Box 1472, Beckley, WV 25802.

2nd Timothy 4:7-8, “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” And so he did, Dane Jenny fought the good fight. May He Rest In Peace.

LASHMEET — Bill J. King, 77, of Lashmeet, formerly of Fayette County, died Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at his home.

Born August 3, 1935, at Jodie, W.Va., he was the son of the late John B. King and Fonda Evans King.

Mr. King was a devoted member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church at Rock. He was a U.S. Army veteran, a retired coal miner and member of U.M.W.A. He was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one son, Robin E. Moore and one brother, Jack L. King.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Norma Shelton King; one daughter, Dora Metheny and husband Jerry; one son, Denver. D. Moore; one brother, Wayne King and wife Janet; three sisters, Norma Underwood and husband Richard, Wanda Seay and husband Tom and Judy Bird and husband Larry; four grandchildren, Cathi J. Moore, Nathan Moore, Amanda Moore and Amy Metheny; one great granddaughter, Cayla Dixon; one daughter-in-law, Terry Moore and one sister-in-law, Nancy King.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m., today, Thursday, May 9, 2013, at Wesley Chapel Cemetery on Wright Mountain at Rock with Pastor L. Joe Robinette officiating. Family and friends attending the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery. For directions please call 304-673-8995.

Melvin Eugene ‘Melvie’ Lewis

LESTER — Melvin Eugene “Melvie” Lewis, 43, of Lester, passed away Monday, May 6, 2013, at Raleigh General Hospital, Beckley.

Born on Nov. 25, 1969, at Beckley, he was the son of Mildred Treadway Lewis of Lester and the late Melvin Cargyle Lewis.

Melvie loved video games, watching TV, and reading. He had attended NIT at Cross Lanes. Previously he had worked at Kroger’s, Montgomery Ward, John W. Eye and in the warehouse at Sears.

His father, Melvin C. Lewis, preceded him in death.

Left to cherish his memory include his mother, Mildred Treadway Lewis of Lester; three sisters, Joyce (Kenneth) Carpenter, Donna Coughlin, and Patricia (Frank) Mason, all of Lester; two nieces, April (Greg) Mitchem and Kymber Mason; and five nephews, Michael, Zachary, and Daniel Carpenter, Ronnie Allen, and Tyler Mason.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, May 10, 2013,  at his residence, 370 Sunburst Lane, Lester, WV 25865, with Rev. Brian McCallister officiating. Burial will follow at the Lewis Family Cemetery there at the home place.

Lacy Franklin Morgan

BAILEYSVILLE — Lacy Franklin Morgan, 95, of Baileysville, passed away Sunday, May 5, 2013, at Heartland of Beckley after a long illness.   

Born April 3, 1918, at Rafe Creek, he was the son of the late William Henry Harrison and Mary Ellen Ellis Morgan.

Lacy served in World War II with the U.S. Army as a military police officer. Prior to the Army, he worked for NE Shields as a logger and sawmill worker. He worked for Norfolk and Western Railroad which later became Norfolk and Southern Railroad from December 20, 1946, through April 3, 1983, where he retired.

He is a member of American Legion Post 0200, a life member of Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees. His hobbies and life enjoyment included gardening, hunting, scouting the woods for ginseng and collecting pocket knives.

He was of the Baptist faith. Lacy was the last member of his immediate family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Mary Magaline in June 2009; seven brothers, Ray, Alton, Woodrow, Tom,  Foley, Howard and Oley Morgan; four sisters, Josie Lester, Elsie, Pearl and Blonnie.

Survivors include two sons, Lacy Morgan Jr. and his wife, Lula “Marty” of Culloden, W.Va., Billy Morgan, and his wife, Nancy of Bryantown, Md.; three daughters, Sheronda Shields and her husband Eddie of Cub Creek, W.Va., Wilma Rowe and her husband, Kenneth of Wallingford, Conn., Shirley Hatfield and her husband, Ronnie of Marianna, W.Va.; nine grandchildren, Sherry Lambert and her husband, Ronald of Fayetteville, NC, April Dunnigan and her husband, Toney of Fayetteville, NC, Kenneth Rowe, Jr. and his wife, Michelle of Clinton, CT, Melissa Clough and her husband, Travis of Baton Rouge, LA, Marshall Martin and his wife, Kathy of Ikes Fork, WV, Robbie Hatfield and his wife, Teresa of Cabin Creek, WV, Wendy Hatfield and her husband, Kermith of Southport, NC, Benjamin Hatfield, Esq., and his wife, Megan of Beaver, WV, Teresa Vogelsang and her husband, Chad of Conroe, TX; 13 great-grandchildren, Jared Lambert, Kailyn and Kimberly Dunnigan, Michael Holcomb, Tanna Lively, Logan Hatfield, Taylor and Alexis Brogan, Maryann Marie Hatfield, Taylor Vogelsang, Robert Rowe, Christopher Lacy and Aaron Bizzell; three great-great-grandchildren, Cierra Holcomb, Zachary Holcomb and MaKenna Richardson; three sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Morgan of Bluefield, VA, Wanda Lester of Beckley, and Agnes Beever of Grasonville, MD.

A celebration of Lacy’s life will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, May 10, 2013, in the Calfee Funeral Service Chapel with the Pastor Alan Ledford and Rev. Marshall Martin officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m., Thursday, May 9, 2013, at the funeral home.

Entombment will follow at Palm Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Matheny. Military Graveside Services will be conducted by the Wyoming County Honor Guard.

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. — Harold Walters Jr., 66, of Sevierville, formerly of Wyoming County,  passed away on Friday, April 26, 2013.

In keeping with his wishes he was cremated and a short graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 9, 2013, in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny.

James Edward Wilkerson

OWINGS, Md. — James Edward Wilkerson, 90, slipped peacefully into eternal rest on Sunday, May 5, 2013, at the home of his granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Lisa Lewis-Bertha and Brandon Bertha, in Owings, Md., following an extended illness.

Born December 27, 1922, in Long Branch, he was the son of the late Willa Ann Laury and Cornelius C. Wilkerson.

Mr. Wilkerson was a member of Morning Star Baptist Church and a retired coal miner.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Stanton Wilkerson; brother, Willie Wilkerson; and three sisters, Ruth Moore, Edith Cottrell, and Dorcas Thompson.

James leaves to cherish his memory his three children, Robert R (Florence) Stanton of Buffalo, NY, Kay (William) Payne and Jeanette (Dwayne) Turner, both of Upper Marlboro, MD; a sister Mattie Bolling of Columbus, OH; seven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; five nieces and two nephews.

Funeral service will be noon, Saturday, May 11, 2013, at Morning Star Baptist Church, Skelton, with Rev. Charles E. Gore officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.
