Wanda Sue Ames

SPOTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. — Wanda Sue Ames, 67, of Spotsylvania County, VA, passed away Friday, May 3, 2013, at Spotsylvania Regional Hospital.

Ms. Ames was very dedicated to the Lord and was a member of Maple Valley Baptist Church in Mt. Hope where she had played piano for more than 40 years. She enjoyed sending cards to friends and family and western dancing. She worked as a piano teacher, bookkeeper and caregiver.

Survivors include daughter Kristel Sayenga; brother Jerry C. Williams; several nieces and nephews including Stuart N. Williams Jr. She was preceded in death by her parents Wilbert J. and Dorothy C. Bishop Williams; brother Stuart N. Williams; and sisters Shelva Jean Gray and Beulah Williams.

Services will be private.

Marvin Ray Cline Sr.

Marvin Ray Cline, Sr., 78, of Bradley passed away on Saturday, May 4th, 2013, in Huntington, WV, following a long illness.

Marvin was the son of the late George Cline and Maggie Gilkeson Cline.

Marvin was a retired coal miner, mechanic and mill worker who spent his retirement enjoying his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed mowing his yards, playing with his fur babies, and cooking out on his grill. Marvin was a hard worker that painted the picture of the ideal family man.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Catherine Virginia Rice Cline, a son Marvin Ray “Buddy” Cline, a daughter Marlene Maggie Cline Wriston, his brothers Gary and David Cline, and a great-grandson, David Wriston, III.

Those left to cherish his memory are his companion and friend Agatha Wriston of Kingston, his daughter Becky Hamro and husband Ernest “Butch” of Bluefield, daughter Pamela Byrge of Bluefield, a son-in-law David A. Wriston Sr. and fiancée Beverly Watts of Bradley, numerous grandchildren and stepgrandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews that he loved very much. Pallbearers will be David Wriston, II, Derek Wriston, Cecil Whitt, Billy Whitt, Matthew Sowder and Danny Shelton. “He was a good man.”

Services will be Wednesday, May 8th, 2013, at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley at 1 p.m. with the Pastors Bill Vest and Arlotte Stover officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity, WV.

Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Minnie Pearl Dingess

MOUNT GAY — Minnie Pearl Dingess, 77, of Mount Gay died Sunday morning, May 5, 2013.

Her arrangements are presently incomplete with Honaker Funeral Home in Logan in charge of her services.



Brooksie Ellen Chatman Ferguson

WYOMING — Brooksie Ferguson of Wyoming passed away Friday, May 3, 2013, at Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley.

Brooksie was born June 3, 1935, at Superior, WV, to the late Charles E. Chatman and Vergie Bowlick Chatman.

She was a member of the Brenton Baptist Church. She worked several years at Grace Hospital in Welch. Brooksie was a homemaker, she enjoyed visiting with friends and family, and loved to go to yard sales and flea markets.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by infant siblings, George and Georgie Chatman, a brother, Charles E. Chatman, and a sister, Mary Ethel Belcher.

Those left to cherish her memory include her beloved husband of 41 years, Stanley E. Ferguson; one son, Michael Anthony Coe and his wife, Chris, of Leigh High Acres, FL; two grandsons, Michael Coe of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Steven Coe of Leigh High Acres, FL; one great-grandson, Brenden Coe of Washington; and a great-granddaughter, Lianna Coe of Hawaii.

Also surviving Brooksie are her loving sister, Maxine Colo of Bluefield; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and her special friend, Phyllis New of Wyoming.

A celebration of Brooksie’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 7, 2013, in the Calfee Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. Tommy Knotts officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday evening, May 6, 2013, at the funeral home.

Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Princeton. Family and friends will gather there at 1:30 p.m. at the mausoleum.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Brooksie’s name to the American Lung Association of WV, P.O. Box 3980, Charleston, WV 25339-3980, or the Brenton Baptist Church, Brenton, WV 24818.

Frederick D. ‘Freddie’ Schlager

PETERSTOWN — Frederick D. “Freddie” Schlager, age 51, formerly of Glen Fork, WV, passed away Saturday, May 4, 2013, at the home of his mother.

Born June 6, 1961, at Beckley, WV, he was the son of Janice M. Hughes Schlager of Peterstown, and the late Fred S. Schlager, Jr.

Freddie had worked as a Diesel Mechanic for World Wide Equipment in Princeton and Rt. 100 Trucking at Dublin, VA.

In addition to his mother, survivors include four sisters, Deborah Lafferty and husband Delmar of Beckley, WV, Pamela Shrewsbury and husband Phillip of Peterstown, WV, Shirley Milam and husband James of Bluefield, WV, and his twin sister, Lisa Brown and husband Gerald “Jerry” of Cashmere, WV, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel, Peterstown, WV, with Rev. James Milam officiating. Burial will follow in the Peterstown Cemetery, Giles County, VA.

Friends may call from 12 noon until time of the services Tuesday, at the funeral home.

Bradley Lafferty, Matthew Trump, Phillip Shrewsbury II, Aaron Milam, Dylan Brown, Ryker Young and Jason Dowdy will serve as pallbearers.

Patricia Faye Stover, 71, of Dorothy, died Saturday, May 4, 2013.

Services to celebrate the life of Patricia Faye Stover will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley. Entombment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley. Friends may gather with the family from 1 p.m. until time of the service Wednesday at the funeral home.

OWEN, Md. — Mr. James E. Wilkerson, of Owen, Md., formerly of Mount Hope, died Sunday, May 5, 2013.

Cleda Faye Williams

Cleda Faye Williams, age 76, of Artie, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 4, 2013, at the Bowers Hospice House in Beckley.

Born on October 28, 1936, at Artie, she was the daughter of the late Wayburn and Linnie Dunbar Williams. Cleda was a homemaker, and was a member of the Artie Church of God.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Nova Williams and Gaylena Cyrus, and by a brother Herman Williams.

She is survived by a son, Brian “LittleMan” Holcomb and his wife Becky of Artie, Five Brothers, Jackie Williams and his wife Aline, Ronald “Boyd” Williams and his wife Jean, Buford Williams and his wife Lou, all of Artie, Teddy Williams and his wife Judy of Martinsville, Virginia, and Eddie Williams of South Carolina. Three sisters, Doris Stanley of Sycamore, Maxine Jones of McDowell Hollow, Kathleen Smith of Dry Branch, along with many loving nieces and nephews. Special thanks go to her caregivers, Becky Holcomb, Trina Williams, Elaine Williams, and Lou Williams.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Workman’s Creek United Methodist Church on Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at 1 p.m. with Rev. Jerry Lawrence and Rev. Matthew Denny officiating. Burial will follow at the Workman’s Creek Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family at the church from 11 a.m. until service time on Tuesday.

In lieu of flowers, donations of sympathy may be sent to the Bowers Hospice House, 454 Cranberry Drive, Beckley, WV, in memory of Cleda Williams.
