Gretta leaves behind dear friends in Mullens, where she and her husband lived from 1955 until 1989, as well as in Princeton, where the couple retired in 1989. She was an active church member in both towns, teaching Sunday School and serving in other capacities. Most recently she supervised and ran the kitchen at Princeton’s Immanuel Baptist Church for a number of years until health required her to curtail those activities. The Sunday School class of which she was a member continued to correspond with her regularly.
Following her graduation from Beaver High School in Bluefield, W.Va. in 1947, Gretta worked in downtown Bluefield at Kresge’s. In 1955, she married Tommy Cline and became a fulltime homemaker. Gretta was accomplished in a plethora of arts and crafts mastering crochet, quilting, candlewicking, ceramics, gardening, canning, sewing and cross stitch among others. Her excellence in these pursuits earned her many ribbons at various fairs. The objects she created, most of which she gave to friends and relatives during her lifetime, were a great source of pride and joy. However, her greatest source of happiness was her love for her God, her family and her friends.
