Mr. Aaron Austin, 70, of Beckley, died Wednesday, October 9, 2013.

Michael E. Bannon Sr.

ALLEN JUNCTION — Michael E. Bannon Sr., 55, of Allen Junction, passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at Charleston Area Medical Center

Arrangements are incomplete at this time.

Clarence M. ‘Roe’ Carver

EDMOND — Clarence M. “Roe” Carver, 93, of Edmond, passed away Wednesday, October 9, 2013, following a long illness.

Clarence was born May 19, 1920, at Edmond, he was the son of the late Aaron and Lillian Carver.

He was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Betty Lou Ritter Carver.

Roe was a coal miner for 30 years plus. He was the last remaining survivor of his immediate family.

Survivors are his wife of 74 years, Martha J. Carver; three daughters, Mary L. Wynes of Arlington, Va., Marcella A. Sine and Alvin of Hardy, Va., Betty J. Legg and Harold (Buzzy) of Lookout; four sons, Randolph M. Carver and Martha R. of Edmond, James E. Carver of Corliss, Larry M. Carver and Pam of Hico, Charles D. Carver and Jeanette of Edmond.; 11 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday, October 11, 2013, at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home Chapel in Ansted. Graveside services will be 2:30 p.m. Friday at Restlawn Memory Gardens in Victor with Rev. Harold (Buzzy) Legg officiating. Burial will follow in Restlawn Memory Gardens

Jack Richard Givens Sr.

HINTON — Jack Richard Givens Sr., 87, of Madams Creek, Hinton, died Monday, October 7, 2013, at Main Street Care, Hinton following a short illness. 

Born February 12, 1926 in Charleston, W.Va., he was the son of the late George and Emma Martin Givens.

Jack was a retired coal miner and member of the United Mine Workers. He was a veteran of the Navy and also the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Hinton.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara Rowsey Givens in 2011. Also by a son, Jack R. Givens Jr. and a sister, Betty Maynard. 

Survivors include a son, Franklin Ray Givens of Tenino, Wash., a daughter, Beatrice Givens and husband Alexander Anderson of Spanaway, Wash.; one brother, George Givens of Jumping Branch; four grandchildren, Amber Parks, Mindy Morales, Jack Givens III and Jamie Doyle; four great grandchildren, Jamie and Elizabeth Givens, Armond Givens-Morales and Tabitha Givens-Morales. 

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, October 11, 2013, at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Butch Honaker officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
