Ronald Edward Perry
Ronald Edward Perry, 81, of Beckley, passed peacefully into eternal life on Saturday, September 28th. Terribly missing Peggy, his wife of almost 54 years, he went home to be with her and Jesus after losing her nearly three months ago.
Ron, as most knew him, leaves behind three children: Kimberly Perry of Charlotte, N.C., Ronald Perry II of Mount Holly, N.C. and Rebecca Perry of Denver, Colo.
Ron was a member of the First Baptist Church of Beckley and enjoyed serving as a deacon and a Gideon. Ron graduated from WV Tech and served in the Air Force. He worked for years at the Social Security Office in Beckley.
In his earlier years, Ron enjoyed hunting, fishing and tinkering in what his family lovingly referred to as his “workshop.” Often referring to himself as “MacGyver,” Ron loved to creatively solve problems and fix things around the house with materials he found at hand. In later years he enjoyed bird watching, planting flowers, herbs and once, a prize-winning tomato.
Ron’s life will be celebrated at a memorial service Thursday, October 3rd, at 1 p.m. at Blue Ridge Funeral Home in Beckley. Visitation will precede the service from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Blue Ridge Funeral Home with Rev. Doc Adkins officiating.
He will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife Peggy in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
Arrangements are in the care of Blue Ridge Funeral Home, 5251 Robert C. Byrd Drive, Beckley.
