Artie W. (Wade) Thompson
CARROLLTON, Va. — Artie W. (Wade) Thompson, age 65, of Carrollton, VA, formerly of Stotesbury, WV, passed away October 1, 2012, at his home following a massive heart attack.
Born June 22, 1947, at Rhodell, WV, he was the son of the late Artie Wade Thompson, Sr., and Dinah Inez Toler Thompson.
He retired March 1, 2011, from Newport News Ship Builders after 43 years of service.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Jess Willard, Franklin H., and James Boyd (Bubby), three sisters, Virginia (Frank) Brooks, Loretta (Mark) Ford, and Betty Lou Cook.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 36 years, Linda, four sisters, Arlene (Ronald) Burns of Alderson, WV, Arneda (Manuel) McCargish of Crab Orchard, WV, Joyce (Roy) Bolen and Carolyn Thompson both of Mt. Hope, WV, two stepsons, Scott Lawson of Fayetteville, NC, and Michael Lawson of Carrollton, VA, and three grandchildren, Casidy, Natasha and Monique Lawson.
At Mr. Thompson’s request his body has been donated to science.

Kenneth ‘K.C.’ Walls II
HOOVER, Ala. — Kenneth “K.C.” Walls II, 59, of Hoover, formerly of West Virginia, died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home with Pastor Brian Erickson officiating. Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Playground Fund for FUMCA Preschool, P.O. Box 206, Alabaster, AL 35007.

Eddie Lynn ‘Red’ Whited
WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS — Eddie Lynn “Red” Whited, 81, of White Sulphur Springs passed away Saturday, October 20, 2012, at Genesis White Sulphur Springs after a short illness.
Born July 1, 1931, in Replete, WV, he was the son of the late Basil and Nelva Robinson Whited.
Red was retired from WV Division of Highways where he served as Greenbrier County road supervisor for eight years. He served on the Greenbrier County Democrat Executive Committee and one term on the White Sulphur Springs City Council. He was a member of the Beaver Lick Hunt Club and Whatcoat United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Jeffrey “Red” Whited, daughter-in-law Beverly, brother Richard, and nephew Stan Whited.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Zelma Persinger Whited; daughters Jennifer Burgess (Denny) of St. Albans, Judy Burns (Grover) of White Sulphur Springs; grandsons Ben (Meredith) Whited of Lewisburg, Whitney (Ali) Whited of Dawson, Neil Burns of Long Island, NY, John Burns of White Sulphur Springs; granddaughter, Holly Jo Burns of White Sulphur Springs; four great-grandchildren, Kaylee Hensley, Annie, Cora and Jobe Whited, and brother, Leon (Becky) Whited.
He is also survived by brothers and sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, October 22, at McCraw Funeral Home, Lewisburg, WV, with Gerald Roberts officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, October 21, 6 to 8 p.m. at McCraw Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Greenbrier County Humane Society or a local food pantry.
